Did I see Doyle holding a bottle of bubbly at the end of the match last night and, if so, does that mean that he was the Sky MOTM? It was hard to see from John Street but it looked that way. Would be very interesting if so, bearing in mind the negative feedback that he always receives on here and the lukewarm ratings that have been posted so far.

He was worse than awful last night and so was macdonald

True, but until we get some pace in all areas of the pitch this will continue. Harry is just far too slow to be a success unless he plays alongside someone like Jags

He was interviewed at the end as the club captain with Yeovils McAllister and they announced that McFadzean was the MOM.

Interviewer gave the Champagne to Doyle to pass on, which would be the first thing he'd passed to a United player all night! Assuming Doyle didnt take it straight to his car, that would be the only opportunity for most of this squad to ever hold a bottle of Champagne !

I dont see what macguires lack of pace has to do with our midfield dissappearing up its own arse

Forgive me stating the obvious, but we were routinely over-run in midfield with him in the team.

He was a shadow-chaser supreme. A plastic carrier bag in the wind: All over the place but achieving absolutely nothing.

Hopefully he and Macdonald can't be as bad on Monday as they were last night. We won despite them rather than because of them.

Pressing high up the pitch and winning possession in midfield by constant chasing and pressing is one of Yeovil's greatest strengths. It was key to their formula which saw them beat us at the Lane a while ago.

I think we spotted that and tried to avoid losing possession in midfield by not taking many chances, i.e. we didn't play through midfield and we saw little deep playmaking from Doyle and McDonald.

Thanks Bergen for a bit of sensible observation instead of some of the one eyed, blinkered shite that some offer as opinion.
Doyle, never been a fan particularly, but last night he gave a good account of himself and was very competitive which is why he's there. MacDonald has the creative tools in his box and tried to use them, not always successfully.
We weren't good by any stretch, but have a lead and need to work out how to better nullify Yeovil's main threat of work rate and closing us down in all areas plus the front two who caused problems in our third of the field.

no im sorry but even if that was the plan it doesnt explain why they bith and particularly doyle kept turning round and playing the defenders into trouble
In the second half they were far more purposeful winning the ball in yeovils half and running into the gaps behind the lines of four but they had let the game pass them by up to this point

Doyle had a good game last night our m.o.m kitson was poor again .

Is this a bonus point for Chris Morgan then? He spotted what was going wrong 1st half and sorted it out for the 2nd half? Or is this something the players should have noticed at the time and rectified themselves?

They were definitely better in the second half McDonald looks twice the player when his first thought and movement is forwards

Defo, when Mc decides he's gonna take em on you can see the opposition go onto the back foot, when we're constantly playing the back 4 into trouble they lift their "closing down" game, Yeovil did this well at times.
I don't like to slag players off at all but Doyle's having a funny season.
All the huff and puff yet sadly very little end product. The reaching and stretching for the ball that he never seems to get etc.
Think this was summed up perfectly by Doyle's acrobatic overhead kick (in our half FFS!) that smacked him fair and square in the face - which rebounded and played us into trouble.
Stick to what you know......,

I don't think I've disliked a player quite so much in all my time supporter United.

Ineffective bully on (and off) the pitch with few redeeming qualities. And an awful captain to boot.

And we're no doubt stuck with him for at least another season.

Take out the word bully and many of us will immediately think of someone else!

For those who don't remember Curran, he was a pig through and through, a "pacy midfielder" who signed for us briefly in the twilight of his career and was absolutely shite. Imagine Madine signing for the Blades and not putting in a shift and you'll have some idea of how much this particular TC was not revered at the Lane

Doyle reminds me of Monty. He'll occasionally do something really good and surprise you, but overall he's not a very accomplished footballer.
Unfortunately he's a regular because we don't have much of an alternative.

Doyle is not fit to carry Monty's kit to the coach

Doyle and premiership; there I've managed to get them in the same sentence.

I think you will find that when McD plays well no ine mentions Doyle as he is the side show but if McD has a poor game then lots of people blame Doyle despite the fact he is trying to do the work of two blokes.
Remind me of those games where McDonald has been a real force in midfield when we are under the cosh and turned it around with a battling performance full of power, biting tackles, getting stuck in and stopping the opposition from playing.

No?

Neither can I.
