He's been average most of the year, and less culpable than many, but Doyle is our major problem.

Because he's no longer very mobile, we can't play 4-4-2 unless there's someone like Coady next to him.

So playing Baxter or Coutts there is a no no.

Therefore, we have to play 3 in the centre to make up for him.

He's also a dreadful captain and a dreadful leader.

Our beloved manager appears to be quite happy to sign midfielder after midfielder, but not a replacement for him.

Average player. But there are worse midfielders around him. Coutts, Baxter, Wallace x 2, Holt & Davies.

Would say Reed, Scougall & Basham are better.

BUT, none of them can score fxxxing goals….

We have 9 players, if you include Flynn we have 10 players who can play in midfield and none of them can score goals….

Nice one Nigel...

If that's the major thing you can find wrong today and recently then..... I'm lost for words.
On second thoughts....
Coutts, why? He's so lethargic and appearing disinterested. A luxury player who contributes insignificantly.
Baxter, ditto
Turner, a liability
Harris, a real contradiction, sometimes inspirational, other times, bomb scare.
Murphy, a saviour at times, just don't ask him to compete for a 50/50
Davies, early days, but honestly, no more than a ten a penny front man that made little impact today.
Confidence, shot!
442, absolutely foreign to this set of players after 18 months of 451 and reasonable success.
Clough, I'm beginning to wonder...
Play offs, lol!

Absolute rubbish, take a look at 8 or 9 others before him, your so called flair and attacking players who are hiding or doing nothing. Have fucking good look at the keeper too, he has cost us big time.

correct - we were right opposite the 18 yard box in SS - Turner took a couple of paces left and left a huge gap for their kid to aim at - not a fluke - just poor positioning............and people criticise Howard - think those fans have been answered by the past few games.

From my angle, it looked to shift twice in the air, but it still shouldn't go in from that distance.

up until this year yes as i have a season ticket .. but as you know perfectly well i live in Austria at the moment. .i've seen enough to know what everyone is on about.. i dont earn as much as swiss unfortunately so the private jet is out. the short answer therefore is 'fuck you pal'

It may surprise you to know that Doyle was one of our better players today. At least he gave a fuck

it's not Doyle's fault his legs are going. I'm just saying that by playing him we can;t play 4-4-2

Willis must get a turn, we played George Long at a similar age.

Did your 'someone said something borderline nasty about Doyle' alarm go off? Whether he was at fault today or not, our setup does not suit him and he's about as good a leader as that c*nt in number 10 is. The amount of people who have commented about our lack of leadership is indictment enough. He's not good enough, and he's never been good enough. Our spine is weak and he's the slipped disc.

Our problem is the midfielders and strikers who are supposed to be scoring and making goals not the guy who is breaking up the opposition ,Doyle is doing his job ,we have very few attempts on our goal ,trouble is the quality of attempts at the other end ,in fact Doyle has had more attempts than the others in the past few games. Doyle is an easy target because he doesn't do the fancy shit that some others are supposed to do ,but he is the least of our problems.

He's a waste of a pick though. He DOES break up the play, but that role isn't needed in most games. He's endemic of the fact that we're great when countering good attacking sides, but we're apalling when we're doing the legwork. We're simply not dynamic enough through the middle and by proxy (of Clough) Doyle is at fault.

And that's aside from the fact that there's no strong voice driving our cowardly shithouses forward.

What pisses me off is the number of times he has chance to run straight and does not and when it is not there he tries to.. There is no doubt that he breaks up play but his best game was when he played forward of Baxter and Baxter actually did as good a job as Doyle deeper pointing to the suggestion that is that type of player required at the moment? Today we did not need the break up play we needed someone with some flare who was prepared to run from deep.

have always thought Doyle is a problem in a 4 man midfield.
Been great in a 5 under Clough when we sit deep - when we have to be proactive in a 4 and push forward, Doyle is not the man for the middle. He is far too square pass in a 4. In a 4 you MUST look forward first, and pass elsewhere if forward pass is not on. Doyle will nearly always look sideways.

It is WHY he took so much stick under Adams/Wilson.

No criticism of Doyle - has been a revelation under Clough, but honesty must prevail - not in a 4-4-2.

As for 4-4-2 generally, we do not pass and move - our centre midfield never wants the ball in difficult positions - they all want it deep, in easy positions - they unfortunately hide.

Fully agree, he is a not a box to box midfielder for a 442 formation

Your right Putney, this is the major problem, Bash for instance, granted he has played centre back in quite a few games, always looks to have a goal in him and yet in 37 appearances has yet to find the net, and he has been one of our more consistent and better players this season.

Willis must get a turn, we played George Long at a similar age.

We have been blessed with some fine goalkeepers over the years, the last being Kenny, but since he left we have yet to find someone who can perform CONSISTENTLY well.

Have you really said we don't need to break up the opposition ?
