Dowell says we want to win the league.

Squad wise, I think we're the strongest. I mean look at Leeds and Norwich. If Norwich loses Pukki then they're gonna have to play Jordan Rhodes! Leeds lose Roofe and they've now had to put Roberts in who is hardly proven. I know Leeds are also playing Bamford, but I think out of the three teams, Leeds look the most likely to drop, but if Norwich loses Pukki I can see them suffering. Whereas we're able to rotate players in defence and up top and still win, including big games like today. It's no coincidence either that we're doing so well of late, in my view, the signings of Madine and Dowell have given us more options and cover.

Beforehand there were games where Duffy would be quiet and where McGoldrick went 8 games without a goal. Now we have Madine and Hogan to come in. I don't think any other team can boast that strength in depth.

The belief seems to be there now. I don't think anything fazes them. So why not aim for 1st?

They've been in and around this promotion race for a while, on TV every other week, used to the pressure with the mindset of genuine contenders, a mindset instilled and demanded by a ruthlessly ambitious management team.

I was thinking about the derby on the way back and had the feeling that there's no doubt whatsoever that we can and will perform. Yes it's the derby, but it's also 'just another' big game and in big games recently we've been bang at it. This part of the season seems to be bringing out the best in us. So that makes me additionally confident going into this game, but generally as well.

The belief is genuine and the opportunity is genuine. Today cemented that.

Winning the league would be absurd, yet we're within touching distance. I expect Norwich to though, based on their great fixtures.

May as well aim for top spot, if we miss it by a point or two we’ll most likely be in 2nd

Be a hard game Monday the pigs will be going all out to de-rail us they have nothing else to play for this season. If they can't beat us they will probably kick shit out of us to try and feck us up.

Norwich have a few more dangermen than *just* Pukki. Oneal Hernandez and Buendia are lethal too, as are Vrancic, Stipermann, etc. They are more injury proof than Leeds and that we may let on.

Sorry, let me explain. I'm not saying they just have Pukki, as you rightly say they have many good players. But up top, if Pukki gets injured, then Rhodes comes in, and we all know that Pukki is a far better player than Rhodes. I can't see that ending well for them in that situation, but he's stayed fit all season. But we have cover that they don't enjoy up top, in my view.

Absolutely, they are short up top with Rhodes (and maybe Hernandez as a stand-in) but overflowing with quality in midfield. Leeds’ problem of Roberts and Bamford are unproven or Streaky scorers. Without Pablo Hernandez, I do believe Leeds are in big trouble. We don’t struggle for strikers anymore, but we have to hope on Fleck and Norwood staying the course. Can’t believe we’re still in the running.

I'm confident that Coutts could come in and do a job but he doesn't have the qualities that Fleck and Norwood possess but he's still a very good player. Leeds without Hernandez, as you say, would be much weaker, as I think they'll be without Roofe.

Totally on board with this, my only problem is that Coutts doesn’t look like he can last 90 minutes and is shy when the meaty tackles are coming in. It’s our weakest section now, provided the huge games coming up against the local dogsbodies, Preston and Brentford and the Leeds game.

I wish I was confident of Coutt’s coming in. He hasn’t got anywhere near where he was pre-injury yet. Up front & in defence we have enough options, central midfield I think we struggle for options

I think it's difficult to come on for these twenty-minute cameos and hit a rhythm. Whether he can do that with one or two full games I'm not so sure, but I still think Coutts is a very good player.Right, gotta go to bed, UTB

Coutts playing in his old position like against reading when he came on is still a very good player. It’s just happened that most of his cameos have been slightly out of position in a more advanced role.

Basham into midfield is now also a credible option with cranie being solid as fuck at rcb

On the United thread on Porktalk a Wednesday fans has put that he knows a player who knows a Leeds player that's said they are knacked their manager has run them into the Ground.
Might be bo$#ocks but then again why would a Wednesday fan say that.

Because like the lot of them, he's a fuckin idiot.

Norwich do look shit hot as well though, so second would do

Boo.

100 point season total still available....

Think Wilder- ball, Sir Chris never thinks second best will do.

We are 13 points clear of 7th and 17 points clear of 8th with 12 to go so play offs just about wrapped up. So pressures off us and we can have a tilt at the top 2

It’s something that is rumoured to happen with all Bielsa’s sides at some point. He burns the players out in final third of the season. He got away with it in Argentina, because the season was split in two, giving the players a break.
