Blades boss Bryan Robson has confirmed that United will not be offering a contract to trialist defender Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe.

The Cameroon international defender played the full 90 minutes of the Blades' 2-0 pre-season friendly win at Alfreton on Tuesday night.

Robson said: "We have decided not to keep Jean-Joel.

"I'd like to thank him for spending time with us and he has done pretty well since he's been here but, on reflection, I don't think he's exactly the type of player we're looking for. We wish him well."

Paris-born Perrier-Doumbe, 28, is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at French club Rennes.

Looks like Doumbe wont be staying then.

Have to say that this comes as a surprise following the positive comments over the past week or so.

To be fair, we don't need another right back so i'm happy with the decision; it just seems to fly in the face of what we have been hearing all week.

Perhaps we need his potential wages to put towards Tommy Grav's gargantuan salary :)
