Double promotion?

It will only get tougher and tougher as each season goes by. The teams coming down will have the parachute payments that are a disadvantage to the other teams in the division. Let’s hope that CW/AK can take us up this season (if we actually WANT to be promoted).

I never understand quotes like this. At what point ever does a team turn down potential success. It's what we're all in the game for.

I'm sure the players are happy to turn down their promotion bonus' and wage hikes.
I'm sure McCabe and the Prince don't really fancy having 200m in their arse pockets.

I disagree. The parachute payments have been around for a long time, they're not a new thing.
Over the last few years they have increased significantly but the most recent change appears to be favourable in that clubs that only spend one season in the PL after getting promoted get them for a year less. They're now paid over three years instead of four, for those that have been in the PL for more than one season.

This season we've had to bring in a lot of players to build our squad. We've more or less done that, with the exception of a spare CH. Next season we won't have to spread our funds over as many new signings so should be able to add quality rather than quantity and can ship out those who haven't impressed.

And it seems that most of the clubs that get relegated are already in severe difficulty and the parachute payments often aren't enough for them to mount a serious challenge. Like Sunderland and Hull.

Our biggest problem is that some of our key players are getting on a bit but I trust Wilder and his staff to be already considering this and scouting players for that contingency.
