I reckon our record in all competitive games is 9 straight wins. Let me explain....

The 1892-93 run was 9 in all competitive games as it also included a 2-1 win at home to Middlesbrough on 14/2/93 in the Northern League (we had been in the NL the previous season and continued playing in it in 1892-93 as we were not convinced that the new football league division 2 in its inaugural season would be that competitive - hence the NL and D2 were pretty much of equal status that season).

The 1958 run was broken up by a 1-1 draw at home to WBA in the Cup on 15/2/58 after the first win and then a 1-4 defeat in the replay.

As I mentioned above, after 7 straight wins in league and cup in 2005-06, we drew 0-0 at Shrewsbury on 20/9/05 in the League Cup (though we won on pens), so that for me brings that run to an end.

There were no intervening cup games in the 1903 and 1960 runs, so their total stands at 8.

So on my reckoning, if we win tomorrow, we will equal the club record.

Only if you count the win on penalties against Shrewsbury in the 2nd round of the league cup after a 0-0 draw (which I don't).

What is this madness? A win is a win.
