Here's a revolutionary idea. Let's all get behind Nigel Clough?
I agree we should and most will.
Would you have got behind Steve Evans or Paul Cox or Chris Morgan?
But you wanted United to lose on Saturday so that Morgan could be hounded out of the club. Doesn't really tie in with your comments above does it?
When did I say I wanted us to lose? I don't believe I did say it, because I wanted us to win, of course. I was certainly concerned, though, that a win would set a naive Bladey bandwagon in motion. In fact I predicted it.
I don't think Morgan will make a manager and I don't think one win changes that at all. I well remember all the plaudits after Swindon last season and smug 'egg on face?' rhetoric to those of us who were sceptical (to say the least) about him. Well, Egg on Face it proved to be, but not mine.
You know, Sheffield United don't owe Chris Morgan a job for life. He's been well paid for his sterling efforts as a player. As a coach he's failed to impress. Let's remember he got the job as part of economy measures, not on merit.
I think he'll be as limited a manager as he was a player. Fierce determination, commitment and 'never say die' are commendable attributes but they only go so far. There comes a time when there is no substitute for ability.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, would be suggesting Morgan for manager, coach or anything else if he'd had exactly the same career, but at some other club.
SUFC are absolutely right to finally drag ourselves into the world of proper football. The DW experience does not diminish that essential principle one iota. That's why it's irritating to hear calls for Warnock, Pulis and the like. Do people choose not to listen? Do they really want to turn back to tired, outdated ways? Hopefully the club will not do so. If they do, they'll turn back without me.
Yes, I know many of you will think that's a price worth paying.
Does the fact that Weir has brought the club to the lowest point in its near 125 year history not give you any pause for thought? Please answer without sarcasm, mockery, setting up of straw men or ad hominem attacks.

Had I known what 'ad hominem' meant I might have been tempted to reply to this.
About Weir? Yes, of course. It makes me think he didn't get it right first time (well, actually he did, it was the second to tenth times that were the problem!) but will learn from the experience. As to proper football, it makes me pause not for a fraction of a second.
If John Coltrane plays a bad note, I don't throw away all my Miles Davis albums!

You said it at least twice in the "Jim Phipps interview" thread:-
“...and land old Upanatem 'Morgs' the job? I think we can stand one more defeat.”
“If a victory delivered Morgan as manager? You bet. As a manager or coach, he is rhubarb. He'll be on his way before the end of the season and quite right too.”
Holloway's had his glory period.
Coltrane play a 'bad note'?You wouldn't know if Coltrane played a bad note because if he did they would make another take and that take would be on the album you'd just listened to.

We would definitely have a better chance of promotion and some success under Pulis.....up and at 'em!When did I say I wanted us to lose? And so it goes on. There isn't a single manager out there who is going to get even 50% approval, but what do we do?I wouldn't want Holloway, apart from his Blackpool side, to the best of my recollection he has previously been consistently bobbins.

Besides that, he's not wired up right, always gobbling off and deliberately courting controversy with his bizarre after match ramblings.
I'd like a manager who quietly goes about his business and is happy to let a successful Sheffield United team be the centre of attention and do his talking for him. Which is not what that gobshite egotistical West Country twat is about.
So I'm afraid it'll have to be a no from me. Sorry Ian.
I don't want Morgan to be our permanent manager either.
I've said all along I want an experienced manager with a good track record, that's not Morgan.
The new first team manager should also be allowed to bring in his own trusted men to work with the first team.
That doesn't mean that Morgan deserves to lose his job as U21 Coach.
Are we going to change the entire Academy staff every time we change manager?
Should we have booted Pemberton out too when we sacked Adams?
No, we need as much stability as possible in the Academy and Morgan should stay in his post there.
