In other news Jordan Slew signs £1m weekly deal at Real Madrid.

Well I am astonished, what I've seen of him has been, to put it kindly, unconvincing.

I expect they will loan him out somewhere in The Championship next season, but to be honest I think League one is too high for him..we shall see.

Split on this one a bit.

Needed to go based on League 1 needs and the players we have been able to buy and loan. He simply wouldn't have played or played well.

But, he could be the type of player we need in the Championship to push on to the next level.

2 points.

1. Sad we needed to sell any prospective talent to get out of League 1 (and that includes that bloke in Birmingham). But for the record. I blame the wasted money given to Clough and Adkins, not McCabe who did give them sufficient budget.

2. Is playing in League 1 detrimental to the development of real talent, that can only flourish in the Higher levels ? Is there now hope for our other youth?

Overall, good luck to him, he will be welcome back any time and when he goes to Real we can fund the Kop upper extension with the profit... ( ever the optimist)

Its the classical " Academy Dilemna " when the Clubs outside the PL . Yes it would have been nice to keep him and see how well he'd have developed with us . But We also needed to overhaul the squad with players coming in who could do a job for us immediately . Same with Ramsdale .

Well whenever I saw him play for us he looked a terrible footballer, with an awful first touch and shocking finishing. He was quite tall; that is genuinely the only attribute I recall him having.

If he goes on loan to a second tier team this season, I hope it's one of our rivals.

He's not scoring many in the PL, but he'll definitely be banging them in at home.

Weird looking bird with plastic tits - will fit in well in Liverpool. Either Ronald Koeman knows a good player when he sees one or I do :)

Was terribly out of his depth as well.

If he had stayed I don't think he would have played six games for us last season and may even have been on this months released list.

Subbed at half time

Think DCL is being used as a pawn in the politics at Everton by Koeman regarding money that will be required to be spent on new players to allow them to try and break into the top 4 .

Also Koeman is showing his intent to nurture youth , as he continues to tout himself for the Barca job. DCL wasn't good enough for us and ain't good enough for Everton .

IMO sad but true .

Unlike his girlfriend, he's not too popular over on the Everton forums.

"21 years ago a younger, friskier, Ronnie Koeman took a shine to a certain Ms Calvert.
In order to avoid scandal he now ensures their offspring is afforded every advantage.
It's the most plausible explanation."

I rate DCL as a player with good potential but it is strange how prominently he's featuring for Everton. I never thought it would get as good as 40k p/w for 5 years for him. I bet he can't believe it.

Maybe Ronald has 'took a shine' to his bird (they're not plastic btw) and involved DCL as much as possible so she's always around the place too?

Maybe Ronald has a bonus for introducing a certain number of young players into the first team?

Maybe Ronald's trying to show what a great nurturer of youth he is to stand him in good stead for the Barca job?

Maybe Ronald just really likes his attitude and wants to reward him?

Maybe Ronald is trying to make him an attractive option for a Championship club to take on loan?

Ronald has a free pass to do what Ronald wants really. They're not going to finish in the top 4, but they've had a decent season and will finish in the top half. No pressure at all. Ideal time to bring players through. It'll probably benefit them with a couple of those players too.

Oh but he wouldn't feature for us. And maybe even would've been released this month!!! Yeah yeah

Still don't rate him yet but he does have potential.
If we had him now we'd have kept him as one for the future
But last year his sale helped us gain opromotion, so a great deal at the time.
Really pleased for him though, a friend of a friend is related to him and said he's a nice lad.

Like the majority of Everton fans I'm still waiting to see why they took a gamble on him, yet to see anything that says 'wow'.

Not saying the potential isn't there, but yet to see anything back it up.

To be fair on the lad he has played in a World Cup U20s Final, progressed his way into making his Premiership debut, scored the winner in a European tie and signed a £40k a week contract.

Dare i say that more experienced football people than any of us seem to rate him highly. The potential is there and for his first 12 months at a premiership club he seems to be backing that potential up quite nicely.

To flip all these positives on their head, i still don't think CW would start him for us.

He has some attributes that suggest he can be a good player. Reasonably mobile, tall, excellent leap on him. Decent first touch. His positioning, strength and nous when it comes to shielding a ball are all lacking at the moment but they are things that can be learnt.

All that effort for him to play for someone else.

Shut the academy and spend the money on the first team.
