We’re entering a strange period where we could do each other favours, football isn’t about favours obviously but I’m sure they’ll be half hoping we beat Bristol city and Preston whereas we’re obviously wanting them to beat Leeds and Norwich in a few weeks time.

To be honest this season same as last I’ve not really given a shit about them, obviously I keep half an eye on what they’re doing but we’re miles on the pitch and off it, I’d prefer them out of business or at least playing alfreton in a relegation battle within the coming years but before that happens I’d have no problem with them coming up and having one last ding dong in the top flight.
Blades and Pigs Doing each other favours. Perish the thought !

I always watch every game v Wednesday when on TV except when they play Leeds (can always get behind any other team playing against Wednesday. I've just never been able to get my head around hoping Wednesday or Leeds win, so I avoid it and hope for a 0-0)

This is a bit like uncharted territory. I'm sure some "bigger blades" are going to turn up, but if it's the choice of us going up or not, can anyone honestly say they won't (even secretly) be hoping they do us a favour? Not me, I'll say it loud and proud: if it makes a difference to our season (and it almost certainly will), for the first time ever, I'm hoping for a Wednesday win in both games. Our potential prize is just so much bigger than theirs.

All that said, if they do get into the playoffs I hope they get battered - the perfect result for us would them be beating Leeds and Norwich and fucking up the playoffs again (or failing in every other game except Leeds/Norwich and missing out on the play offs, but that seems rather unlikely).

Nonsense each team has to play each other twice. There are no "favours" it's just balance, it's just its fell that it looks like we help each other. Fixtures are random and had these fixtures been at the beginning of the season no one's batting an eye lid.

My old man instilled in me how it used to be in Sheffield, if the Blades were at home, most fans went to BDTBL, if Wednesday were at home, most went their, I'm a Blade and have Ben my entire 53 years, but I'm also Sheffield through and through and have always had trouble understanding how a fan of either team, could hope for any team outside Sheffield to beat one of Sheffields sides, when we play them, of course there is no contest, Blades all day long but, I'd love to see THE Derby played in the premiership, show these other cities including London how it's really done.
Tin hat on now, UTB.

Yes. You can get ready for some right abuse.

My Dad used to get taken to both the Lane and the sty alternate weeks as a young one, think it was just the way back then to see more football, he’s a Blade through and through and dislikes them with a passion, so glad he made the right decision, as the rule goes, you support either the team your Dad does or where you live nearest! Which I have now passed onto to my son

Wednesday have those 2 games against leeds and Norwich, and then play all the teams around them including villa, pne and Bristol. 5 draws would be ideal

I’d like them to beat Leeds and Norwich, and how things are going they might get at least a draw. I just can’t see them getting into 6th, too many good sides around them and Bristol & FLDC have matches in hand.

If, if we make autos those play offs could feature all the big hitters, think it will be a lottery. Making autos is essential for us

If we get top 2, I honestly couldn’t give a flying fuck whether they get top 6 or not.
Whereas if we end up in play offs, then there the last team I want to play

Here’s how it is.

We don’t do each other favours, we do ourselves favours and as a result the others benefit.

I’d love to go up and them stay down, because them going up rescues them from the awful way they have been run. Part of me does like the idea of PL derbies however let the world see how well our City can do a 0-0

Another part of me dreads the thought of us finishing 3rd and them 5th and then beating us at Wembley..

Let’s take top spot and what ever else happens meh

NURSE!

As ive said before on one of the other 25 threads I couldn't care less what they do as long as we go up
We wouldn't get any less money if they won the play offs
I hate playing them though the last 3 games have been an embarasment to Sheffield and maybe we should be kept apart for that reason alone

I think anyone not wanting them to beat Villa and Norwich is a Sheff Wed hater 1st, and a Sheff Utd supporter 2nd.

It’s not even arguable. We want the results that best assist us. They won’t get into the play-offs anyway, even if they take points off Dirty Corrupt Leeds and Norwich. Other teams above them and with games in hand will be winning too. I ❤️ Other Teams.

When you put it like that it makes everything very clear.

What would be nice is if we won the league, they get in the playoffs and get obliterated by anyone in them, I’d settle for that. :D

I don't want to see them obliterated, I want them to just ever so slightly fail. Nowt worse than being a nearly team.

If wednesday get a late winner against Leeds, I will celebrate it almost as much as a United goal.
I’m reserving judgment to see whether it makes a difference. My default position is wanting them to lose every game however if in any individual game them winning would help us I’ll swallow the inevitable vomit that will try to issue forth from my body and want them to................... not lose?

Load of bollocks !!

The chance of us winning the last 8 games is slim.

Therefore we will need Leeds or Norwich to drop points.

I'm more than happy for the Pigs to help us out.

Absoloutely.

Even if by some miracle, they do make the play offs and we go up, we'll be too busy on our open top bus to care if they scrape through it or not.

Agreed, but the chances of DCL or Norwich winning the last 8 are equally negligible.
