Does anyone remember which year the Sheffield United Superstore opened in its first iteration?

In the late 60s we had a corner shop on John Street. Our merchandising initiative was spearheaded by Bertie Blade. I think it is fair to say that our city rivals were ahead of us with Ozzie Owl, and we were playing catch up. Prior to this , the only income streams were matchday receipts, a proportion of away match receipts and matchday programs. Keith Walker, ex referee, did a good job in making progress in this area. I have fond memories of the Lane Social club.

I just about remember the corner shop half way up John St that’s now a house. But mostly recall the caravan on the junction of John and Shoreham. Never that big and don’t know if it sold kits as always went to House of Barrington to buy kits from the source. Shop Moved under South stand when it all got filled in early 80s. However recall the very end part, where shop entrance is now, was originally a police station!

Must be up there as one of the longest running clothes shops in Sheffield at this point?
There was a big upgrade in the summer of 1997 as I remember picking up one of the new shirts in a temporary shop (portakabin) in the car park. I cannot remember though whether that was when they went from the old counter set up (where you had to ask for stuff rather than look yourself!), or whether it was a layout change.

Bloody hell I'd totally forgotten about the police station! I swear it was still in situ into the early 90s. Someone must have a photo

I remember the old one at the lane in the 1980s. Seemingly staffed entirely by one old lady. Once saw Dave Bassett and some of the players helping to carry loads of umbrella tracksuits into there when I went to try to buy some away programmes.

Am trying to remember the name of the friendly old lady. I read that she was a Wendy fan.

I remember the "unofficial merch" outside the ground in the early 90s "Hats scarves t shirts and all yer badges" bought my 2-0 pigs shirt from there for 3 quid I think

They used to sell Blades merchandise in what is now Morrisons at Meadowhead, was it Safeways before? I can remember the Patrick shirts from early 2000s on display to buy in there.
