Yes it gets you thinking.

R.I.P Carl. My thoughts are with family and friends at this sad time.

Yet on another thread you're dropping the name of a certain notorious person and bragging about what a "Big Fish" he is.

You've outdone yourself Eddie. Why not tell me what you're talking about and I'll do my best to reply.....but your annoyance/anger isn't constructive or helpful. By continuing to want to have the last word - which I'm more than happy to let you have - it's as if you want to fly the flag for any trouble associated individual, but I guess that's alright.

No matter what you think to him ,this started as a notice about the death of a Blade ,shame it has to end up as it has. If you have negative things to say why not say them at an appropriate time and place and have a bit of respect.

No more comments from myself, unless Eddie or whoever choose to provoke, is that ok sitters?

Certainly does. Some of us get to a certain age where we kick the shit and some don't. Granty was a sad case, but I think Dodger was always just a matter of time Up and down with the roids will catch up with you and it's not like he hadn't had his scares.

Next big away day will be interesting.

Bob Socks, sorry fella, but ghandi is spot on about Dodger.

I hope he didn't suffer, probably something that won't have crossed his mind when he and those toe-rags he associated with used to terrorise those they took a dislike to. Just because some may have turned a blind eye to Dodger's, what shall we call them, 'antics', it doesn't obscure the fact that certain Blades supporters were beyond unpleasant and socially reprehensible. If you choose to ignore this fair game, but facts are facts. There's no point telling someone that they should have...'grown a fuckin pair'...if they'd have been outnumbered 15 to 1.

I feel the same way for his family as I would anyone who has suffered a loss, but whether comments are made now or later, it doesn't lessen the harm that Dodger was party to.

Leave the personal stuff at the door. I imagine he didn't make your life easy at the factory but a death is a death.

Is this the same bloke who used to tax people and demand tickets from people in a bullying manner who in his latter days of notoriety had a posse of wanabee 16 to 18 year old hoolies following him around.
RIP as will some of his victims/targets will be able to now.

And the bloke or who used to stand outside the sportsman taking money of young'ens.

RIP though

Up watching American football, so thought I'd look in , saw this about dodger,
First meet him on a trip to Brentford away, we where surprise , surprise in the old 3rd div , and get into a bit of a set to on there end for the whole of the first half , when at half time the old bill walked us across the pitch ,
was always as mad as a box of frogs , stood toe to toe with him on more than one occasion, and guess what when we went away from home it was mostly 15 to 1 against us , so sometimes if the tables where turned so what .
Also had to intervene with Carl when he tried it on with a mate after a night out on west street ,
Also had to tell him to fuck off outside Howard , when he tried getting a gold ring off me ,
Might not have been some people's cup of tea ,
But a true Blade .
RIP , Dodger , Carl .

Saw him a couple of weeks ago ,loud as ever. So many stories ,he certainly had an eventful life.

I don't know him - which is he on the photo?

Not seen Dodger for many years - mainly as I haven't been around for a long time! Used to see him in my days, end of the 70's early 80's. Took the special down to Highbury for the second leg League cup match late 70's?? Went drinking round the Irish bars in North London until well after the kick off so we headed for the first turn style we could find....happened to be the North Bank...Stood at the top singing United until I was booted down to the front rather rapidly...Dodger took a little longer to arrive! We walked round the pitch rather pleased with ourselves (and grateful we were still in one piece!) to the amusement of the Blade following.
Saw him some years ago working at Attercliffe Post Office!
Also we bumped into each other some time ago at the Sheffield courts......
RIP Blade.

RIP Dodger- one of the biggest characters among the Blades support for years.

Jim Phipps should hold an online poll about having a minutes applause

In his younger years he was a decent player (early eighties) i got him with us at Eckington MW ( Division 1 Anglo Scandia) speedy little winger.

Im not sure but i think he played for Sheffield Boys

Believe it or not, Dodge was offered terms at United!

Turned them down, wanted to pursue his other interests...

"In his younger years he was a decent player (early eighties) i got him with us at Eckington MW ( Division 1 Anglo Scandia) speedy little winger."

Fucking hell, fancy being a full back on the opposing side having to mark Dodger!

The Brighton photo is a great picture. Was in the away end in the corner, if I remember right didn't Blades spill out onto the pitch from the home stand behind the goal at the other end? Recall it eventually all kicked off in front of the away end, coins raining down from our end, aimed at Brighton, who vastly out numbered Blades on the pitch. Those that weren't chucking coins were clambering over the fence to join in with the fun on the other side of the fence.

You wouldn't believe this but the lads used to call him "Little Carl" he was as quiet as a mouse in the dressing room mind it was full of animals in that side.
I vividly remember his first game against Wadsley WMC their full back was kicking fuck out of him until he'd had enough turned on him with a hooligan style wade in fucking hilarious of course he walked.

I think the photo is superb and credit to where it came from. And please don't tell me...Not seen it before, but it provokes memories of the era.

To the right, is that the younger brother of a local boxing legend? . If so, the tache always a give away.

and to the left a younger version of a man who even from the late Eighties always had shorter hair and started following England. I may be wrong but 1990 being the first proper Blades trip...

As for the fella in the centre well a lot shorter hair than the Shaun Ryder look of 1990, often sported outside The Lansdowne... Seen flying solo on West st near the Jannath on a few times looking for a few suckling pigs..

Now wasn't life fun before CCTV, Stone Island and when you could get a pint of Tetleys in The Cross Guns..

We could all tell our stories and we've all learnt lessons but as a fan we should show respect...

UTB fella.

If ya put these so called hollies up before cctv , they'ed shit themselves , try telling that story nowadays bout running Leeds twice on there home patch , Or telling how they no showed after being humiliated at home , and yes Steve cowens was right , there was hundreds waiting for them at midland station , I know as I stepped off the train from Manchester couldn't believe them marching down the road .
Respect where it's due
RIP dodge .
I for one was glad when someone from Sheffield had the balls to fuck them cunts from Leeds , Manchester
, and the cockneys off .
Sorry to some Blades , but I for one was proud of that bit of our supporters history in the 80's.
