Yeah, we did well but needed more depth, we unfortunately wasted all that money or one man did. It will be bargain basement signings if it happens again and no offense but the second season was horrible, would rather not go through that again.

We get fuck all from referees in this league, even with VAR the referees took the piss both years!
Basement bargains + a shit season of being bottom could be what secures our financial position long term and allow us to improve our infrastructure (what we should have done last time).

That’s easily worth a shit year as a fan.

Go up and basically build a very good championship team that might just stay up next season.
That has to be the plan.

If we went up we might even be able to get MGW even if on loan for another season too. If we don't we would have some money to spend to bring some in.

If we don't go up we won't be spending much at all this summer. Expect a fair few out (out of contract too) but not much coming in other than freebies and loans.

There will be at least 5 teams struggling in the Prem next season.

Yes we'd be one of them... IF we get into playoffs, and IF(!!) we won the playoffs(!!)... But you've got to want and hope for the best. Otherwise what's the point really?

Chances of getting Gibbs-White back would also multiply by about x25.

I assumed we all did, but having spoken to relatives/neighbours of an older generation, surprised how many prefer to not get promoted. I'm wondering whether the slightly tepid atmosphere at Bramall Lane also maybe reflects that some fans aren't desperate to go back up?

Never will i ever understand a fan that doesn't want to get promoted.

If we're in CH, i want us in PL.
If we're in PL, i want us in Conference League
If we're in Conf, I want us in Europa,
If we're in Europa, i want us in Champions League
If we're in CL, i want us in Super Cup...

And so on, and so on...

Why would we not want to go up?? Odd mentality if you ask me..

If we don’t go up I worry for us next season. As it stands we lose

MGW
Davies
Hourihane
Uremovic
Adam Davies?
Robinson
Basham
Sharp
Osborn
McGoldrick
Goode

That’s just loans and out of contracts. The OOC player I worry won’t be renewed due to their higher wages.

Add to that a high possibility of Berge and not even considering moving out any other of the PL wage earners.even with relegation reductions they will still be on good wages.

MGW, Davies and Hourihane are here because at the start of the year we were offering PL wages

The real kicker is Heck agreed to come in and promote from within. Whilst we have some good players coming through I don’t think any are really ready to start next season so if we don’t go up what do we do?

Break the new club philosophy or get by with a team of kids that aren’t ready?

Absolutely no option given that sums up my feelings for it.

I want us to win the playoffs because:
I like to see us win.
It'd be unique, in my lifetime, to see us do it on a neutral ground in a Big game.
It SHOULD give us a money secure future.
It'll mean we are at least 1 division above the Pigs.

I don't really care because:
I hate the Prem and all it stands for (Money, corruption, over hyped and every game seems to involve some cheating).
VAR sucked out my very soul and eroded my game day enjoyment by, at least, 50%.
The only good thing about the Prem is it's lack of pigs.

Play-offs Yes. It'd be good to see more games.

Promotion - No fucking way - VARball is not football.

How the fuck anyone wants to be at a game where you can't celebrate a goal is fucking beyond me, but I guess that's a minority opinion.

For the competition, the unpredictability, the goals and all-round entertainment and the 23 home games (plus the possibility of those extra nail-biting nights in the play-offs) nothing beats the Championship. I'll take it over the Prem every time - but promotion to the Prem is a prize that I'll take too if it's there for the taking. Any club in the Championship not aiming to get to the Prem will end up in League One eventually - 'tis the way of things.

Another reason for promotion/play offs: cash-rich Everton going down and pissing the league, leaving only 2 extra slots for going up.

Plus, add in the perennial yo-yo clubs Norwich, Watford and WBA (who will no doubt bounce back), and the Championship is looking like potentially one of the best ever years in terms of quality and riches at the top, and the most difficult to compete in

wheres the underdog mentality,we love an underdog and I rather that be us than being favs most of the time and losing at home to Blackpool, with a different manager who knows how hecky would do in the transfer market if he got even 50% of what ah chrissy got, even signing that Croatian lad would wilder have even sanctioned such a move,I think we'd surprise a lot of people.

We need to be in the play offs but I don't think this side is good enough for The Prem by a country mile.
More disappointment awaits, either losing in them or in another bottom of the table Premier season.
Go up and take the money though.

Gonna go to the snooker club tonight with a mate. Not gonna try and win though
Then tomorrow gonna play tennis but will let my mate win. I might win first 2 sets though to make it interesting, but ultimately, I don't want to win.

Strange, strange mentality

Are you sure you want to go to the snooker and tennis club ?

As well as losing, you will have to spend some money, and the tennis club is very expensive, I'm sure that your scruffy arse doesn't belong there.

Our fans should mirror the club and stick to where they belong, Arundel Club

I just love the bits about getting all that money and building a much better team than we already have,
I mean do tell me, is the present team so much better than the team that took us up the last time ?

Yes but purely for the excitement of the play offs.

If we get there. I ve already said elsewhwere I think we ll finish 7th on last day on goal difference from a goal in 97th minute!!! (its the Blades way)
If we do get there I just cant see us winning. Forest seem to be the team with momentum at the moment. Huddersfield are crap but just keep on winning.
Yes I want us to play at the highest level.
BUT!!!!!

VAR ffs!
The big six getting all decisions!
Refs blantent disregard for anyone not in big six.
Self entitled prima donna multi millionaires rolling all over at the slightest touch.
KO s at any time bar 3pm on Saturday.
The Prince not investing should we go up. Ergo us getting tonked every match!!

Im sure there s more reasons not to enjoy it there than there are for actually enjoying being there.
The only plus being revenue generated.

Yo-yoing for a few years like Norwich would be a change - get promoted, spend nowt, and spend alternate season getting smashed all over the place, relegated, then pissing the Championship and back up. Rinse and repeat.

Sounds fucking horrendous.
I hear you but I wouldn’t be averse to spending very little if we went up as long as sufficient funds were invested in upgrading the infrastructure, namely the training ground and academy, perhaps removing the pillars from the kop and improving the facilities in the stadium. It would be good to have something tangible to show from the money that comes with promotion, rather than a few overpriced players that you get cornered into paying too much for.

You can always try and put a positive spin on a relegation/failure to get promotion….cheaper tickets that are easier to get hold of, winning more often, smaller queues in the boozer, better kick off times.

Ultimately though it’s all just a defence mechanism. If you don’t want to compete at the highest level you can then you are kidding yourself or you should look for a new hobby.

I play 6 aside with some lads with the same kind of mentality. Get near to promotion and they stop putting the effort in or talk about refusing a promotion were we to win one because they think the games will be too hard. Fucking mental.

No, this is where Sheffield peoples proper Sheffieldness comes to the fore.
When quality is required, we'd rather pass on it and let Watford, Bournemouth, Palace, Southampton, or anybody that gets promoted with us have it.

And that goes for Sheffield people who become team manager or Chairman as well.

It’s a cultural thing.. we will never change the culture … I think people are worried we will lose our identity which we won’t as culture and identity are different things

Or perhaps it's because a lot of us have been here before, several times ........

Small pool big fish, Big pool small fish ?...😉

This side doesn’t need to be good enough for the premier league, that’s what the Transfer window is for?

I don't want us to go up last season was no fun I'm a fan I want to be entertained and enjoy watching my club..... But I don't want us to lose any game we play..... I have a problem UTB

I want us to play to win every game and take the promotion if it comes. If that happens it will probably mean we will have won a play off final and that may be a once in a lifetime experience for us. Certainly for me at 73. Also I would have to watch the subsequent Prem matches with some fear and trepidation because it is hard to think of the money benefits and smile that we are in the Prem when you are getting mullered by Man City or the VAR system disallows another Blades 'goal' by a big toe or have a blind ref who hasn't switched his goal line technology kit on and VAR can't see the bleeding obvious.

I think trepidation is the word that sums it up for me, especially when the club spent what for us was a fortune on players they'll have trouble giving away with the contracts their on...

I've just chosen the day out at Wembley option, but, then I thought, wouldnt it be extra nice, to beat Forest in the play-off final!
That would make for an absolutely amazing afternoon wouldn't it!

Which route gets rid of those 4 poles on the Kop...................err...............get to Prem no cant do it we need to establish,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,err remain in the Championship no we dont have the muney.

So i choose to stay in the Championship (with the 4 poles) and play PIGs next season,Lge 1 playoff final win with a spawny penalty again infront of 60k pigs.

Its Forest's turn in the top tier, and they have ground expansion plans in place already to go.

Good luck to em,its the only way they will keep hold of Johnson.
