I assumed we all did, but having spoken to relatives/neighbours of an older generation, surprised how many prefer to not get promoted. I'm wondering whether the slightly tepid atmosphere at Bramall Lane also maybe reflects that some fans aren't desperate to go back up?

Yes. But I'll get the train to Styal and go on a long walk without my phone if we do, or more likely waste loads of money watching us get outplayed again at Wembley

Yep but more for the day out and we've got to win one eventually, I imagine it's the best way to get promoted, the nearest we will get to winning an actual cup.

That said the 2nd season in the prem was painful so not particularly bothered if we go up

Yes and although I voted for the excitement, it was just definitely not the other options.

I don't really understand why anyone wouldn't. The advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. More income generated and if the miracle happened and we actually won them, we'd get a load more "munneh to spunk".

I don't think the majority of our fanbase have any expectations either, so if we lose in them, no one is going to be that surprised.

Premiership? Only pigs call it that, because that's what it was called when they were last there. Hmmm

Obviously want us to go up but a) I don't think we will even make the play-offs and b) if we did go up it could be carnage...

No

I can’t cope with anymore hope , look what happened the last time .

Much safer to be in the champs and first div from time to time .

When I watch us play I just pretend the opposition are a prem team anyway

Defo want us to go up although I seriously we'll do enough in the window(s) to make it anything other than moral sapping relegation battle.

If we don't go up I do feel it's time for a "reset". Certain players have clearly already played their best football for us and it's time to seriously freshen things up.

I'm sentimental about a lot of the players I'd sell/let go. But I'd still sell them/let them go.

Club comes first. Progression should never stop.

I voted for promotion, but only because we need the money to fix the leaky roof at Shirecliffe.

In all seriousness, whilst a relegation would most likely follow, I'd like to think we'd be able to invest the Prem money in facilities. Let's get the Category 1 youth academy sorted, lets put £500k in a few councillors pockets to get planning for the new training ground approved, and then lets spunk £20m on a few promising up and coming players (and a midfield shithouse).

Also maybe £100k towards R&D of cloning, to see if Billy 2.0 / Bash 2.0 can be created.

I agree with a few views, I am 100% not bothered about the Premier League or play-offs. Only advantage of getting there is the money we get BUT then you have to buy to compete so it's a pointless exercise, we cannot afford to buy the players needed to stay up and build.

We managed to have the players to stay up as recently as 2 years ago. It can be done.

what i think is scary is the rebuild job if we went up:

Wes?
Bash - Egan - ???
Bogle/Baldock----------Lowe?
Norwood - ????
Ndiaye?
Brewster? - ????

Realistically we have around 9 players who'd cut it at that level, potentially only 5 if you take away Rhian/Ndiaye/Wes/Lowe who are unknown quantities. Norwood is not PL quality, but at least he's done well this season and we know he can do OK in EPL.

It's a gigantic job buying players for all those positions. We will struggle but with 2x EPL loans we might get 19th.

Yo-yoing for a few years like Norwich would be a change - get promoted, spend nowt, and spend alternate season getting smashed all over the place, relegated, then pissing the Championship and back up. Rinse and repeat.

Sounds fucking horrendous.
Sounds good to me. A mixture of both leagues, excitement one season and money the next.

Hated the last season in the prem loss every fucking weekend not for me. At least in the championship we have more good weekends than bad and i enjoy the football better cant be doing with prem fuckers rolling all over the pitch
