My first game was a crazy home win in the early 80's. The score ended up either 4-3 to us or 5-4.
For some reason Swansea sticks in the brain but I could be mistaken.

It was around '83 or '84, if any of you history buffs have any ideas which fixture it was it would remove an itch from my brain. Failing that if anyone can point me towards a good source of historical football results that goes back that far it would be appreciated.

Apologies for the lack of info but I was only 2 or 3 years old.

I do know it wasn't the world famous 5-4 against Brighton
Was it Pompey?

New years day 1991 v QPR. Won 1-0 with Deano scoring at the Kop end where I was stood. I remember my dad picking me up when he scored and I cried and told him to put me down, 6 years old I was. This was the season we were promoted and went 16 games without a win, and managed to survive quite comfortably in the end.

That's when Big Bad Billy played centre back in the 2nd half? The return match was a memorable day as well, fell down on the away terrace at Loftus Road when Booker got the goal that kept us up. Happy days.

First proper game was 07 January 1978 v Arsenal in FA Cup. Remember watching tv earlier in the morning and I think it was Brian Moore on ITV that said that United could be the upset of the day, got hammered 0-5. Can remember Malcolm MacDonald ripping us apart and being 4-0 down before half time. Can also remember Woody hitting a screamer and Pat Jennings catching it one handed. Some team that Arsenal. Even though we got hammered I was mesmerised with the stadium as we sat in the new south stand which hadn't been open that long. I think we also lost 5-1 and 5-0 in the next few weeks to Sunderland and Bolton if I remember correctly. Still going and always will, you can't beat that feeling of watching the Blades, win lose or draw it's just a passion that doesn't die.

1989, a Centenary Friendly against the Pigs at home, finished 0-0 and Palmer was sent off.

First home match was a few weeks later, a 2-0 win against Ipswich, walking up the steps of the John St East Terrace was a truly amazing moment for a 12yr old, the luminous green shirts in the crowd mixed in with the home shirt, the sight of the Kop and South Stand, the smell of freshly cut grass mixed in with cigarette smoke, i was pretty much hooked from that moment.

My 1st game at BDTBL was a 2-0 win against Stoke in April 1975,I was 10 years old went on the kop and Peter Shilton was in their goal.

14th of August 1993 for me.

Home
Swindon Town
Premier League
Won 3-1
Scorers: Falconer, Bradshaw, Rodgers
Moncur for them

I'm sure they had to wear our away socks.

I was hooked from the very first minute and completely awe struck by the sound of the Kop.

Also distinctly remember the smell of the program.

First game of the relegation season (?) when Flo (Deano's Norwegian replacement) made his debut; stupidly thought all would be ok after that win...

September 1978, approaching my 10th birthday. Had been to reserve games before then. Lost 2-0 to palace and got relegated to 3rd division for the first time. The smell of the place was a big memory too. Doesn't smell the same these days. But the excitement of coming through the turnstiles, going up the steps and the ground opening out from the old John street stand will always stay with me. A year later and I used to inhabit the kids pen on the corner of the kop and John street. Used to get told off for standing on the little white railings before the big bad fencing was put up.

Here is the evidence that Shilton didnt wear the all white kit like you had thought! The photo is when Bill Dearden got upended by Shilton, the ref awarded us a penalty. Geoff Salmons (who had left us for Stoke in the previous summer), thinking that Woody was to take the penalty, advised Shilton to dive left. To Salmons surprise it was Keith Eddy who took the penalty and sent Shilton the wrong way to give us the lead

Bloody hell now you're asking, i really can't remember and i have Harry's games on video but haven't had the old VRC plugged in for at least 10 years :D

Snap! Got the video gathering dust but can't play it - frustrating...

I went to that game there Kop were split in to two sections and both sets of fans were coining and throwing stuff at each other and I had my collar felt just after we scored our 2nd goal..got kicked out of ground and stood on banking with about 200+ other blades peering in from the corner.
I was also at that game, only two sides of the ground open and I think 28k rammed in. I was stood with the wolves fans, and when we scored our goals I cheered and to be fair to the wolves fans around me they didnt give me any problems.

Fantastic idea for a post. Some great memories here people, which just goes to show that some have watched the mighty blades for years. Despite the ups and downs of the club the loyalty is more than commendable. BDTBL is like a second home to most on here and it just goes to show the depth of feeling for the club.

Sometimes you've got no option,my sister use to babysit me quite a lot in the early 70s and she loved going to bdtbl so therefore she had to take me if she was going and then soon as I was 10/11 I use to take myself off to bdtbl pay 30p to go in the pen then jump over fence onto Kop,who I were a wrong un.

Can remember going to a Tuesday night game at the lane against Chester when Ian rush played for them think score may have been 1-1 but not to sure to be honest..a long time ago.

I remember the very first time I saw the Blades and it wasn't at BDTBL, it was over at the sty. It was an old county cup game against the piggies and that was around 1973 or so. Was the first time I saw TC and he was magic, I can't remember the score but I remember coming away and asking my dad who TC was and from then on it was the Blades for me. I know it wasn't at BDTBL but considering my very first view was at the sty, I think I recovered well from the experience.

Went to that one with a mate from Chester. He told me they had a young striker that did little but was lethal in the box.I thought he scored a late winner but you may be right that it was a draw.Anyway it was during theseason we were in the 4th Division if memory serves me well.

Yep that was the season... My first season pretty much sums us up!

Not sure Flo made his debut in that 1.

That season also had a terrible 0-0 with Southampton at home ... One of the worst games of footy I've ever seen.

But gave us some highlights...especially the run in but alas to no avail!

16th April 1974, lost 2 nil to Leeds. It's interesting I take my nephew's now who are a similar age and like them the result didn't upset me I was just so excited to be there.

My old man wasn't into football so I was taken by my nextdoor neighbour and his son. Interestingly we are lifelong friends and whilst I was hooked, he has no interest in football and neither has his dad!

As others have said I just remember the floodlights and stepping into the upper tier of the Bramall Lane stand and seeing the pitch for the first time. I still get that tingle even though the club has tried it's damnedest to kick it out of me.

I do feel slightly conned, nobody warned me that like investments, football teams can go down as well as up. Little did I know, I was probably seeing the best collection of blades Players of my lifetime!

April 1973 against Crystal Palace won 2-0 Billy Deardon and Jim Bone scored. I had no affinity with any team at this point but was hooked before the game kicked off.
Stood in front of the famous railing near the John Street Stand and kept using this area for a few years until we moved to rear and central join the lads that created the atmosphere.
Can remember plenty of invasions, particularly dirty Leeds when some Twat knicked my silk scarf (after giving me a sneaky sidewinder).

My first was the first home game of the 61 season.Who we played and what the result was,Ihave no idea. All I can say is that I have been going to beautiful downtown Bramall Lane ever since with all the ups and downs that entails.Just plain hooked;life just would not be the same without our beloved Blades.

It was in the 3rd division in February 1980 and yes it was a 1-1 draw. We scored first and the Rush equalised at the Lane End.Rush signed for Liverpool two months later although he remained at Chester for the rest of the season

1960-61 or 1961-62 season?

If 1960-61 beat Plymouth 3-0 (Tues night).Pace, Russell and Hodgson
If 1961-62 beat Wolves 2-1 (Pace and Hodgson)

I would have been 9yr old then and that was my 1st game and my 2nd game was the 1-1 with the pigs in April at bdtbl.
