I was livid when I heard the rumour, kicking off around the house mumbling under my breath something about if ever meet him I'd chin the lanky gimp! I refused to post anything due to my kneejerk reaction thinking meh just a rumour.

Then he signed and off I went again.....

Then I saw him in a Blade shirt (which I thought would actually wind me up but didn't) and that softened the blow. What made me vote yes instead of no was watching Wilder's interview and when he said that Madine had balls to come here! That Madine could have gone to quite a few clubs interested in him but he chose us. That changed the whole perspective on the signing for me!

So smarten yerself up Mr Madine, no going out on the lash and knocking the stuffing out of folk. Do a job for us and bang the winner in against the filth and maybe, just maybe :)

I trust Wilder implicitly and I wouldn't want anyone else in charge of my beloved Blades.

Can't believe I just posted a positive Madine post, life is bizarre.

As Wilder says: "I sign the players at this football club". I agree with this principle, and he's more than earned the right. If Wilder wants Madine, he gets Madine, so yes is the answer.

We could get a 2 for 1 out of this thread and based on the above comment by Wilder suppose as to why he signed Ched Evans again for a reported £500k? Anyone up for it?

No I don't agree with the signing. He's probably the biggest nobhead in football and we've signed him.

All this from Wilder about having balls to come here doesn't wash with me. I doubt he gives a toss either way and probably just wants to come back to Sheffield for his love of the bars and smashing people's faces in.

This needs to be a thread in Other Football and Sports all on its own. I could find a few people to eclipse our Gaz's knobheadedness fairly quickly.

There are lots of relatively decent folk who have fallen foul of the law when a drink has been taken. There are lots of people who have mouthed of and cast aspersions about folk on social media etc. and yet still made a decent contribution in life generally. I didn’t want Madine but CW/AK does. It’s not about what I want as my job isn’t riding on it, only the success of my football team.

Wilder and Knill wanted him so, within reason and this falls within that area, I trust CW/AK.

And just for the record, I am now going to try to NOT comment on a Madine thread!

Sorry to be reductionist, but in Wilder we trust. He's given us great football, our pride back, and currently bragging rights in the city. Punchy will put on our shirt and hopefully produce the goods. Not here to judge

I voted yes and was always a yes. I just don't get the hatred for him. Has been an idiot and hope that has changed.
I'm prepared to give him a second chance but it's purely for football reasons that I support him - just like every other United player.

If he's not a success then he goes back in May.

I don't care either way, I've got to the point in life where I just want to enjoy things and take it easy. Getting wound up and annoyed over what a player has done in the past isn't healthy. He's here, there's nothing anyone can do to change that. He's made a very big decision to come here when he could have hid away on the bench for Cardiff, let's get behind the team and make him feel welcome. Would you want to perform your best and give 110% if half the stadium are calling you a cunt...?

I like polls, i think we should have one everyday.
We could have one on Friday before a home game, Which way should we kick first if we win the toss ?

Let me have my Madine thread come on pal.

Why not every other fucker has, so welcome , perhaps in 2020 we’ll have enough or perhaps Madine will be doing a stretch for some misadmeaner or something worse.

Ask me again in May, would I have gone for him, no, is he what we need, probably, all we can do now is watch and see.

He'll sign who he wants. He'll sign who he wants.
So for footballing reasons it's a yes because it's down to CW to make that call notwithstanding repugnance to Genetically Modified as a person.

Let's now sit back and watch whilst:-
(a) GM turns out to be a complete damp squib waste of money who takes us no further or
(b) Turns out to be Agent Madine who crocks Sharp, Bash and Egan in training, misses three open goals and a penalty, acquires 2 red cards in 5 games and is banned for the rest of the season whilst also getting arrested and jailed or
(c) knocks in 2 late winners and a 94th minute equaliser to secure top two.

I confess that my gut feeling is that CW judgment may be wrong here, but he's paid to make the judgment.

I don't agree with it, too much crap if it goes sideways.

But CW and AK are obviously in the best position to make that judgement call so it is what it is.

it is what it is - You sound like my wife. That's her "catch-phrase". Bound to go tits up now!

It's a phrase I use, tourettes-like, quite often.

A conversation with a well meaning person asking how i'm coping after the passing of Ms Crab often ends with the phrase.

It's a signing made in desperation at the lack of viable alternatives, putting everything else aside I can't see where Madine has ever been a good enough player to make a difference but if by some quirk of fate he manages to score a goal that wins at least a point and the only thing he offers that no other squad member does is those towering headers that skim off your head goalwards.

Those two know the budget, the players we could realistically target, and the needs of the team. They’ve also met the bloke.

I wouldn’t have had Madine top of my shopping list in a million years, but it’s entirely possible that it comes down to him (and his baggage), or a significantly lesser footballer.

As a manager, you’d want the best possible player. As a fan, you’ve got the luxury of not dealing with reality.

Just wait til he comes on as a sub on Saturday and scores an equalising header then a winning volley with a minute to go You'll all fucking love him then you fickle cunts

I think we can honestly say, this is a mighty fine mass debate.

Now a bit of dust has settled and large quantities of sand removed from lady gardens(including mine) I'm trying to look purely at what this signing hopefully adds to our attacking potency.
It surely signals a slight change regarding our getting the ball into dangerous areas slightly quicker than we tend to and will hopefully increase our success at corners. I also hope it will lead to more opportunities for Billy, Didzy and Duffy as Mad one wins the ball and lays it off in dangerous areas.
We've tried Wilson, Woodburn and Washington; (curse of the W??) all of whom have been disappointing to downright gash.
I will be very interested to see how Mad one fits into our style on Saturday as there is no doubt he will feature at some point.
Strap in folks!!
