Do we get to take our own ref down on Monday?

Plus linesman, second goal was just a couple of metres offside.

Whatever about the disallowed goal and the failure to play the advantage, the challenge on Flynn on the edge of the area was disgraceful

Wasn't great but wasn't bad either.

The performance of the team and Clough was the reason we lost.

Really? Didn't
I can only assume you and me watched a different game. He was woeful.

We're to blame, but if assessors actually did anything, he ought to be a worried man tonight.

Watched it on TV. Watched all the replays. Came to an opinion.

Commentators were saying the same.

Just saying, having watched from John Street I saw it very differently.

Too many issues to sit and recall them, but there were many inconsistencies, errors and a complete lack of control.

First half we had two penalty shouts, Davies was booked for absolutely nothing. Second half Flynn should have had a penalty and he pulled play back twice for no good reason when Done was through on goal. So that's three or four goals he's conned us out of. Not to mention their match winner diving repeatedly and not getting booked.

Worst referee we've had at the Lane all season, and that takes a diabolically bad performance to win that award.

And definitely not a foul for the disallowed goal...their player dived in his own penalty area!

If the chances had been taken , both first and second half , if our penalty had been given first half , Done was through and got blown back for what , touch and go for Dones goal ,
Don't like blaming refs , for the teams failings , but he was a fucking joke, our poor finishing aside.
That's watching it from this side of the Irish Sea .

The ref was dire. I didn't think we deserved to lose tonight, albeit bad defending for their two goals. That's the angriest I've been at a football game in a long time.

Took him more than an hour to eventually book one of their players.

Oh, also the most repeated song all night was "you're not fit to referee", which might tell us something.

Yep, he was dreadful. Swindon aren't a nice team to play. I see they are still continuing their gamesmanship from earlier on in the season.

Gamesmanship maybe we should try some of that. Seems to work for every other team in this league especially the MK twats.

And another thing!

Insisting Freeman go and fetch the ball for him at half time, what on earth was that about?
End of the half Freeman should have given him a look and launched it out of the ground the ref couldn't have hurt the Blades chances anymore than he did ,that performance should see him in the conference as a linesman.

Watched it on TV as couldn't get:

1. Yes, it was a handball (but personally I don't think it should have been given, but more refs would do than wouldn't
2. The disallowed goal was a foul, he had his hands on his shoulder. Any ref would have given it.
3. Should have played on, but it wasn't like he was one on one with the keeper

4. Their penalty should have been retaken for encroachment
5. It was definitely a pen though

Watch the replays. The lad who brought it down from the goal kick was a couple of metres off side but it just went unnoticed like the Flynn red card and penalty
Not seen the replay but you cant be offside from a goal kick. Outside of that referee assessors talk about the big decisions - he got four, maybe five big ones wrong tonight. That many does influence the final result.

Basically he was shit and cost us big time. The naivety of referees continues to astound me.

I chatted briefly with the assessor and, without dropping anybody in it, the referee can look forward to a few free Saturdays...

I've just watched the highlights, and stand by everything I said on the incidents shown. Of the three penalty incidents (Murphy going down in the first half wasn't included), our two were far easier to give, and the foul on Flynn could have easily been a red card. I think it was the same player (#2) who then went on to dive and deny Matty Done.

One difficult decision, maybe two, not going in our favour I can take. But with decisions of this magnitude, how obviously wrong they were, and the number of them show that the referee is either clearly incapable or a cheat. One poor decision could be attributed to human error, but this is nothing short of complete incompetence.

I don't pretend it's an easy job, but when it affects what division a team is in and even worse - being able to watch a football match won fairly for footballing reasons - something needs to be done to improve standards. The refereeing in the league this season has been farcical.
