Do the players give a fuck?

I thought it was Danny's folded arms that was failing to motivate the untapped, volcanic fervour and desire that lay deep within these gladiators? Surely the 'Upanatem' spirit lasts longer than a mere two games?

Doesn't it?...................doesn't it?.......................

One day some of you will realise that there's no substitute for ability.

Won't you?..................won't you?...........................

for what it's worth my personal opinion is that your expenditure should reflect your final position or you have failed.. apparently we have the highest wage bill in the division??
Football ain't played on a balance sheet

Only players I'm interested in keeping are Long, Hill, Maguire, Flynn, Murphy, McDonald plus the kids. Rest can fuck off.

Oh and Miller if he makes a recovery.
Got to keep hold of miller, also LJF since he looked good early last season. Only hold on to McDonald if he gets a big kick up his arse, he has been poor this season but we all know what he can do.

It wasn't Danny's folded arms which annoyed me, it was the lack of energy in terms of altering the tactics during the game.

It takes all sorts, I suppose; but André Villas Boas at Spurs has done a very good job this season and that's partly down to his altering of the team during games.

Chris Morgan does speak well - in terms of words rather than accent - but he's hamstrung by the lack of mobility (and ability?) within the first team squad. Whether he's got enough to get him the position of first team manager at Sheffield United should not depend on the view which the fans get of him on the touchline.

Equally, in other posts you've extolled the ability of David Kitson. I agree with you on an objective level in that he is a very good striker at this level but that only works at the age of 33 when he actually plays up front: dropping into central midfield helps no-one.

I wasn't particularly criticising Morgan (though he's not on my short list for manager) but rather the usual simplistic drivel from our more Neanderthal colleagues. The daft notion that all would be much better because "Morgs is a motivator", "Just like the old days", "Upanatem". It must have had a very hollow ring at Fratton Park.

The truth is, as I'm sure you know, that ultimately its not about youth or passion (sorry to disappoint the blinkered amongst us) but ability. Until we grasp that relatively simple concept, we'll continue, arms waving, muck and nettles, gerrinitintbox, on the road to nowhere.

Absolutely true. Managers should, by simple definition, be able to get people to follow their instructions. Footballers should not need "motivating" to win football matches - that should be the simple prerequisite of their profession.

Morgan may or may not be a better manager than Wilson but the "Neanderthals" may also be prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt where Wilson did not get that luxury - it's a strange old game.

Also absolutely true, with the caveat that "ability" sometimes means playing a patient game, passing the ball around between the back four and midfield, seeking to exploit a predetermined weakness in the opposition's defensive shape. That is the bit which some Blades fans don't seem to grasp - and is why some appear to be ambivalent towards the future of Kevin McDonald: who is, in my opinion, the single most important footballer currently on the books.

Fixed for you.

I guess you know why the owner ensured Wilson was replaced with Morgan? If Adams was QuickFix Mickey, then poor old Morgs was expected to be Miracle Morgan. A quick injection of muck and nettles to cure a thousand ills.

Again, it's pure fantasy. :(
