Dishing the Deadline Day Dosh for a Big September...?

With the release of the fixtures, I gotta say September is looking pretty tasty -

Sunderland
Bolton
Norwich
W******y
Wolves
Forest

What comes to mind though, is how will the clubs recruitment work out, taking the size of September into account? I'm hazy on the details, but if memory serves, we did shite in August 16/17 so CW shuffled to the 3-5-2 and I think bought in players to suit the new system/replace those who weren't cutting it. Will a similar approach happen this season and is this when the big money will be spent?

I remember reading someone at the club saying something like - 'we'll get business done early, hold onto some funds and see where we are at the start of the season.' - To me, August isn't going to be as big a challenge as September so perhaps isn't a good yard stick to draw any conclusions from. Also, if the club does 'see where we are' then decides they need more quality, are we going to paying over the odds in a seller's market?

Either way, just look at those for a set of fixtures! Brilliant!

We need to sign the key players as soon as we can. It's alright saying I won't be held to ransom but if we're trying to sign the centre halves we obviously need and we leave it til the last minute, we will be held to ransom.

Holding onto some funds is to cover us for something we're not planning for, like a long term injury to Fleck in our second game or realising a player CW thought could step up can't. Like he intended to use Brayford and Hussey, saw them in proper games and quickly replaced them.

I've all but given up on "big money" being spent, I just don't think it's there.

Not necessarily a terrible thing though, Huddersfield showed what a side playing as a team under a good manager with real passion can achieve. No doubt we have all those ingredients in place.

I trust in Wilder to make the right signings without putting the clubs financial future in jeopardy. I don't think any panic buys breaking the bank at the end of the window is the way to go, it's short sighted and we're better off getting players in that Wilder believes in early doors so we can hit the ground running.
