last year Wilder referred to different pots of players that we get players from.

This close season we've bought players from the bottom of that pile ones with points to prove.

Where are the marquis signings?

I've mentioned the marquee signings in the last week. Under Wilder we haven't really made such signings.

I still go back to the Warnock documentary from more than a decade ago, it was the season before we got promotion and McCabe suggested a big name to Warnock. A player to put buns on seats. Warnock responded politely and said something along the lines of we need players to do the job rather than a big name

I think in this respect Wilder knows what he wants and needs and he's very similar. We may not sign big names but we will sign players that become big names, they may already be at the club.

The likes of Fleck is a great example. A relatively low key signing from a very bang average side going backwards. Their best player though.

I can see us perhaps making a couple more exciting signings but I don't think that will come at the expense of the major priorities which Wilder has

Ha-ha think you mean "marquee" but get the point!

We will piss in the Prem point soon don't worry.

Imagine my dismay at opening this thread only to find that it wasn't about a change of apparel for those legends of watch with mother time, Bill and Ben :(

might as well call them marquis signings - what the hell have 'marquees' got to do with footballers, they're tents* which you have big wedding receptions in aren't they. Its silly lazy meeja speak a bit like "basket of currencies" and "raft of measures" - idiotic when you come to think about it.

anyway on the subject of Different Pots, I've got tea, pepper, salt, plant, piss and good shot at snooker so far.

* p.s. seeing as another word for marquee is Big Top I think we could, more meaningfully call them 'big-top' signings, mind you it's not as if we ever make any anyway .....

One of Wilders close friends told me at the end of the season that there would be several low key signings and just before the season 1 or maybe 2 headline signings depending on the players wanting to come.

I also know one of wilder's close mates!. He's an Italian with a surname of peroni if my memory serves me well!!.

Which fits with what I've been saying.about picking up some fall out from the Prem 25. I think that's a real possibility as it usually sparks some sort of player cascade down through the divisions. A bit like those arcade games at the seaside where you insert a coin into the slot and it falls onto a moving platform and eventually the coins pile up and then fall over the edge. The only thing is, we are playing on the 2p slots, not the 50p ones.

The low key signings are safe squad players with high potential.

It wouldn't surprise me if the "headline signings" are all loanees, players with proven talent/ Championship pedigree/ experience from the PL.

Huddersfields player of the season last year was Aaron Mooy (on loan from Man City).
Expect many FL clubs (including us) to use that policy as a mean of bringing in top quality at an affordable price.
