It was there for all to see.

Brentford technically are one of the top sides in the division. Some very very good players at this level. They'll be up there, top ten again probably.

But Preston, a team heavily tipped for relegation managed to restrict the big spending, striker happy pigs to.....

ZERO FUCKING CHANCES.

I love it already.

Brentford are a good side. One of the better sides in this division.

And they lost!

Good eh?:)

We need pace based on that. Won't critisise any of our players today but the speed of their small players nearly caught us out. Their number 15 sprayed passes all over with park with pin point accuracy but the long ball to fast forwards just wasn't good enough to beat our overall team performance.

We have a long way to go. We were lacking second half for long periods,BUT we dug in and won. We will learn from the shortcomings and be stronger . Wilder indicated this post match. We will get better game on game, and we beat a very, very good side today. Unlike the cunting pigs.

People seem to think we will pick up points early doors due to the euphoria of promotion. I disagree. I thought we would start fairly slow as we got to grips with the league and adapted our system. We simply can't get away with playing like we did last season as there are too many teams who do it better than us. This is a great start as we showed qualities we never had to use last season

Exactly this. When some of us stop fawning over the likes of Brentford it might dawn on them that we are adjusting our game to the championship whilst the likes of Brentford are what they are. We won this for starters and will only get better.

Early day's I know, but this comment on Roygbiv 's view caught the eye:

"My impression was of two mid-table teams with not much to choose between them. I can’t see either team getting promoted – but equally both looked capable of comfortable survival.”

I mean we've just popped up from L1 whilst Brentford have been building a few years to get to this stage....we shall see how it pan's out but very pleased with that performance and comment.

UTB!

Not many teams will have the pace Brentford have, and Jota would get into every team in the league.

What was there for all to see was how we are just as good, and our defensive qualities against a very mobile and creative attack force were very encouraging.

We worry about not scoring enough goals though, some horrendous finishing from them today.

Brentford reminded me very much of what i have seen in recent years in the champ from TV

very , very slow build up with not much end product or excitment!
thought first half inparticular they were very slow with everything they did

speaking of slow, did anyone esle think Blackman looked like he moved really slowly all the time, not syaing anything against him as his saves earnt us 2 extra points and had a great debut (bar some slightly dodgy kicking !) but half what he did , seemed to be in slow motion and also what a guy said on P & G , he had go go gadget arms !

The minor criticism I'd have of today B56 was that their 15 (Woods) was almost always who they looked for to play it out from the back and we didn't seem to pick upon this. Too much space was given in the centre mid for him to flounce in to. Other than than, well chuffed with the sheer guts and determination we showed to close things down in the final third, where I guess it matters most really.

It looked to me like we were still coming to terms with the game being faster in the championship not only pace but speed of thought, we were a bit sloppy at times and gifted them a few chances we wont always get away with it in this league. Having said that Brentford have some very good players and have spent the last three seasons in the top ten of the championship. I think we will get better as we get used to the division can't ask for any more than we got today (although I think Clarke's goal was onside). Good crowd and good noise levels most of the time, we will be OK this season a bonus to see the pigs lose too happy days.
