Confirmed by Diego on twitter.

Expecting Mcnulty and Higdon to not start on saturday, obviously wont be match fit. 6 in midfield then..

I can guarantee that McNulty and Higdon won't be playing on Saturday.

..believe McNulty's playing away again this Saturday...Edinburgh or somewhere..look's a tough fixture..

We now have Adams (not ready yet) and Porter (useless) as the ony fit Strikers at the Club and a Promotion six pointer two days away.

So lets send the other forward who has ctually scored league goals this season out on loan again.

Logic?
So your solution is to play someone who isn't good enough for the 1st team yet ?

Logic ?

10 years ago this month United signed Luke Beckett.

He played 5 league games for us that season. He started one, and came on as a sub 4 times. He did not impress.

Warnock let him go out on loan. He went to Huddersfield and scored 6 goals in 7 games. Then he went to Oldham and scored 6 goals in 9 games, saving them from relegation.

Meanwhile, we missed the playoffs narrowly, playing Chris Morgan up front for the last 10 minutes of our 1-0 defeat to Millwall, as there was no one else.

When we are drawing 0-0 or losing 0-1 late in the second half over the next few months, and we are using one forward or none at all, I will think of Luke Beckett and Diego, and will remind myself that some clubs never learn.

Beckett was awful when he played for us. Lacked pace and aggression. Couldnt defend from the front at all. He scored a lot for Chesterfield but a Chesterfield fan said he wasnt a good team player and he was surprised when Beckett signed for us cos he is "out of depth" at 2nd tier level, OKish for bottom half of the 3rd tier. I have seen players in Junior Football who have a decent goalscoring record but are not asked to play for their team in the following season. Seeing someone's name around the top of the division's goalcharts doesnt really mean that he is a good player

so lets bring back oldhams jonathan forte who has scored reguarly , or philliskirk or billy sharp , all of whom didnt score when with us
didnt beckett end up at gainsborogh trinity, where he did score plenty, but youd expect that
hardly a glowing example

I really hope adams will get a chance then if we're sending out another striker on loan and haven't got any fit or good ones remaining.

then again, I reckon murphy could do a job up top, he's got all the attributes aside from being able to score with his head. If you stick him upfront with baxter just behind pulling the strings, could be goals a plenty. Plus then you can include Flynn and Campbell-ryce on the wings.

Anyone agree? ..............no ok then

A player that's top of a lower league scoring charts who has fans calling to sign him, regardless of whether it's likely that player can adapt.

I call it Chris Greenacre syndrome.

Adams seems to be a midfielder.

I remember a few in BU (or was it in SUISA?) were shouting from the rooftops that we should sign Greenacre and I tried to explain to them that a good scout would watch him play in a few matches and assess him rather than the lazy way of studying the scoring charts. One of them in particular didnt like my reasoning

I accept that goals at a lower level aren't everything when judging a striker's form, but they are at least a factor. You can bet your bottom dollar that we wouldn't have signed Lyle Taylor or McNulty without impressive goal tallies in the Scottish second tier.

(Plus Beckett had scored goals at Championship level, but let's not open that debate again).

I see Lyle Taylor has started scoring now and then for Scunthorpe. 3 in his last 8 games.

Jump to 18 seconds for his last goal at York:

He can claim an assist for York's second goal as well.

What a great goal that was,it doesn't matter though because is name is way to fancy and that's the only reason people want to see him play, beggers belief:rolleyes:This lad has real quality,he must not work hard enough:rolleyes: He sent them 2 lads for a biscuit there.

..it's all about the channels ;)

It will suit him a lot better if Clough will be playing with two strikers more in the second half of the season. Him and O'Grady together would be interesting.

Diego does seem like a player that would work better alongside someone else. Although I can see him staying on loan at York for a while if possible.

So that's 4 in six games.

If he keeps this up and scores 15 or more, and our current lineup keeps on with its one goal a game pace, are we still right to leave him where he is?

I call it so desperate for a new striker it hurts syndrome.

I've had a bit of "insider info" on this one, and as it stands right now, he'ss off with no intention of signing for us at the end of the season.

That came from his Dad, via someone I trust. Obviously, things change, but that's as it is right now. They are of the opinion that Clough doesn't want him, and he's sorted elsewhere.

Another point was that someone at the club believed he ws tied to us for another year and was surprised to find out his contract expired at the end of the season.
