Herge? (Adventures of Tin Tin)? Eddie Merks who was a famous cyclist and of course this bloke (for us of a certain age)

Looks like I did not spell "Eddie Merks" correctly, just looked it up, apologies!

The current Top 10 famous Belgians are :
  • Eddy Merckx, five times winner of the Tour de France.
  • Adolphe Sax, inventor of the saxophone.
  • Herge (Georges Remi) , the creator of TinTin.
  • Audrey Hepburn, actress.
  • Plastic Bertrand, punk/rock singer of 'Ca Plane Pour Moi' fame.
  • Peter Paul Rubens, baroque painter.

and that is about it. Used to work for a company that had a big office near Brussels, and a smaller one over here so they though they were the big cheese and we had a lot of fun winding them up with this. Ah but we're only a small country they'd say so we'd start reeling off famous Scots then. Eventually they though of one other one - Rubens the painter (1577-1640). Edit: just saw you got Rubens and a couple of new ones, they could have done with you batting for them pal ;)

They make some decent beer though, although the good stuff never makes it over here.

not half! Used to have to go over there a lot and got taken out in the centre of Brussels and got hammered on Duvel and other stuff at around the 8 to 9% strength.

When some of their guys came over once and I couldn't make it to meet up with them they were asking me for recommendations on beer to try. I gave them a list and they asked what the strongest was of the ones. It was Theakstons OP at about 6% - hah that's just like a Leffe they said. Edit: in the end they stayed in the hotel that only had Caffreys on draught - absolutley disgusted they were.

I did the same thing, went into an old town square in Brussels, tried loads of different beers that I had never heard of, all strong stuff!

No doubt Bolton are about to snap up a bargain.

Can't see him moving up here...reckon he'll end up back at Charlton, or maybe Brentford

West Ham have mutually terminated the contract of Uruguayan midfielder Diego Poyet.

Maybe...............

Heard this and thought "he'll either go abroad or to the Championship". Would be nice, but don't think it would happen.

Someone on Twitter reckons his mate saw Poyet at training this morning & he's on trail with us.

The pictures on here from today at the training ground showed what appeared to be Chris Burke and Reece Brown, don't think anyone mentioned a third player?
