I don't think Clough had a bad record at all when it comes to "giving opportunites to youngsters".
He signed Adams, K.Wallace and McGahey. Played Kennedy often when he was fit.
Gave debuts to Reed, Dimaio, Khan and Calvert-Lewin.
If anything, he played both McGahey (15 games) and Reed (19 games) too much in the league last season when we needed more experience.

In 3 seasons he's played 18 league games in the 4th division (4 goals) and 2 in the 3rd division (no goals). He hasn't played a league game for us since 2012-13.

I wouldn’t say Clough didn’t give young players a chance. We’ve seen the list on this thread to show that he did. I think the reason that people blamed Clough was his record of falling out with players (Collins, Butler, JCR etc).


But now nasty negative nige has gone and nice positive nige is here and Diego still can’t get a sniff, that leads me to believe the player is the reason rather than the manager.

This was at a time when he really should have been looking to impress – didn't do much of note to be honest. In fact he might have missed a penalty late-on (can't actually find any evidence of that, so might be poor memory).

Other notable appearances for us that day: Steve Howey, Noel Whelan, and surprise cameo goalscorer Tony Daley.
