There was a piece on BBC Breakfast this morning at about 9.30 - 9.45 where he was the focus of a report on Buxton FC who play York City in FA Cup this weekend. He now has a tiling business but the piece spent some time on the family links to an Italian restaurant in the area - that might have been in Chesterfield. One mention of him appearing for and scoring (I think) for United in a fourth round tie years ago. Seems quite a grounded lad and appeared happy enough. There was some supporters talking about the club and about managerial changes there. I suppose the piece can be found on iplayer.

It’s the Sicily Restaurant in Chesterfield.

He played for York aswell didn't he?

Jamie ward plays for them. He must be nearly 40 now.

Couple of lads who work for me play for Buxton. They say DDG is far too good for that level but he doesn't work too hard, but if he wants to put the ball in the top corner he can do it whenever he wants.

Warren Clarke wearing the number 11shirt. He played in the same AFC Dronfield, Dronfield Junior and Henry Fanshawe school teams as my son.

ilovesufc , George up there will be proud!

Didn't want it enough?

Think he had a bad injury, then believed his own hype a bit. Now he's happy picking up a (very) decent wage for Buxton. Big fish etc. Good luck to him though.
The hype thing too, agreed. Thinking he'd made it. Impressionable youth and all that.

Just been speaking to them, they're a bit gutted with Morecambe, a decent league 1 team but not a big one, Portsmouth, Donny, Rotherham, Wednesday etc. They wanted one of them are a team at a similar level st albans etc. Hopefully they can get through and get a man utd or Liverpool in round 3.

I wonder if Buxton have a spinning bike for Jamie Ward to warm up as well?!

I never quite understood the angst that DDG always seemed to receive. If overconfidence was one of reasons he didn't quite make it, he won't be first nor the last footballer to suffer from it.
If he's doing well at Buxton and enjoying playing, as well as running his own business, then good luck to him.

I don't think it was overconfidence which stopped De Girolamo making it, more the horrific knee injury he got at 17.
