Good to see young Diego playing his first match back yesterday, for the U21s against Stoke at the Academy.

Some old faces there as well, John Gannon, Simon Tracey and Glyn Hodges

How did they get on? The official site hasn't even got it down in the fixtures, never mind the result or a report.

Great news for the lad! I hope that he continues with his recovery without a glitch

Thanks Sharrow. Great that he's recovered enough to start playing again but it'll be a good while before he's anywhere near the first team again I should imagine. Just hope the injury hasn't set him back too much and he continues with his comeback.

Diego was on Sky sports Italy, they did a piece on him. Yes it was in Italian but the jist of it i thought was that he was being compared to Gisueppe Rossi of Fiorentina, formerly of Man United and Villareal. The kid is clearly highly rated and i'm looking forward to seeing him in the first team whether that be this season or next. Hopefully his injury hasn't effected him too much and we do have an excellent player waiting in the wings.

Paul Heaton will be happy to have a Blades / Italian connection. Lets hope he gets back to full fitness and progresses as much as everyone hopes. Good luck to him.

If he is so highly thought of it wouldn't surprise me if an Italian team comes in for him once he is fully fit.

Didn't realise Paul Heaton had been injured too, here's to a quick recovery.

Twitter says he scored twice then came off injured in the first half.

I imagine it's probably a muscle strain, hope it isn't anything serious

To all the concerned messages, my knee is great coming off today was just precautionary ⚽️ great to get 2 goals though Thank you #SUFC

Yes, about the only good news today.

I'd play him in the first team next Saturday :)

Where?

Goal
Fullback
Centreback
Midfield
Wing
Up front

Take yer pick

Or you could leave him on the bench until the 87th minute?

Diego bagged a brace in the 4-1 win over Coventry for the U18s. Good to hear he's back and firing.

Otis Khan scored the other two. He also seems to be making a name for himself

I would promote Khan to the bench for the first team just for the experience after all there are 7 subs so what would it hurt?

The free kick was a cracker too. He's scored some great goals so far this season.

Daz , I think I asked Foxy in the shoutbox a while a go about Khan. He seems to be coming on strong this year since being given more of a free role by all accounts. Do you think he is abit in the Lallana/ Will Hughes type of player? God do we need some intelligent players who know how to find pockets of space.

I'm not saying he's going to be as good as them but he's certainly in that mould. He thrives on getting inbetween the midfield and defence to make things happen and he gets beyond the striker as much as he can.

One thing I can say about him is that I've never seen a young lad look more determined to make it. His work rate off the ball is as good as it is when he has it. I always find that as encouraging as the ability.
