I’ve been critical of some of performances this season but not gonna whip the lads for that other than not taking there chances , but that’s the difference in whether you come home with 3 points or not . If they are top of the league & unbeaten it’s says a lot about the quality of the league this season ..they were bang average.

They basically sat behind the ball for the last 20 minutes. Otherwise the possession would have been even. That's not 'bossing' a team. That's a team defending a lead. They still had more chances than us and significantly more chances on goal.

The league form so far this season (Bournemouth apart) has been inconsistant for most teams, Cov lost 5 zip to Luton then beat Fulham 4-1, Brum won first few games and now are in free fall, Forest picking up results now, its all very unpredictable at the moment.

Bournemouth certainly didn't have any more 'good' chances than us. And one of their shots on target came from a penalty that should not have been awarded.

We hit the bar. Doesn't count as a shot on target, but it's as close to scoring as a saved shot and probably closer to scoring than a blocked shot that might have been on target..........if you get my drift!

If you have fewer shots on target, than the opposition has goals, you can have zero complaints about not having won. They got a dubious penalty, so the only real complaint United can have is we dropped a point.

A shot that hits the bar or post and rebounds out, is a shot that would have never had gone in. A scuffed shot on target that is easy to clear, at least has the potential to go in of the defender fucks it up.

Those stats aren’t even correct though as we had at least two shots on target.

‘significantly’. Really?

In the first half they’d had 3 shots on target and we’d had none. One of their 3 was a free kick which was easily saved and a back pass after Olsen had given it them. The other wasn’t anything of note. We had the best two chances in that half.

In regards to the possession stats we were well up on them even before the last 20 minutes, it wouldn’t have been even if we’d played for an extra 30.

Im slightly concerned about the fact that Billy has had on 1 on 1 situation's in each of the last 3 games and missed all of em. 2 of em werent even on target. Chances he'dve burried a couple of season's ago. Im sure he'll come good. Rest of his game has been immense more often than not so im not complaing too much.
What's even more worrying to me is Billy's the only forward scoring em, missing em and like today, creating em

The ref & linos will have high fived every player in a red & black shirt & noshed Parker off after that game. Handed them 3 points on a silver platter & if Slav says owt about it, he’ll get fined.

Rank.

7 to 1 is significant.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but in my opinion it takes no account of the circumstances surrounding those shots.

Don Given had a shot on target for us on the 2nd May 1981, but there was no way on earth that there was any danger that it was going to hit the back of the net. In today's world it would still have registered as a shot on target though.

.the adrian Durham of s2 4su sparks controversy once again

Just back from the match.
Fully agree with Asabas tweet posted above.

I was stood in line with 18 yd box directly in line with the slide tackle and the Lino on far side. Immediately, myself and all those around me went berserk, because not only did it appear we won the ball (then the man) but it was clearly outside the box. This 3-4 mins of arguing with ref and players having treatment seemed to knock momentum in their favour.
And then bang, as quick as you can say Bob Hatton, it's 2-1 which was infuriating because Bmth were clearly offside in the build up and we find ourselves appealing to officials again!! Never thought I'd say it, but VAR wouldn't allow this.

It doesn't help that we were pressed when playing it out from the back, but continually tried triangles around our own area leading to unnecessary mistakes.

I'm not unhappy with our performance today, I'm angry that the officiating was appalling and gifted them the opportunity to take the lead when we were in control. The whole game they had the calls from the ref and the Lino (far side) second half was appalling.

Moose should ve levelled at the death, but that's just our luck at the moment.
Billy's first half one on one (with Ozzy wide open square), Davies header first half corner, Bash's header back across goal from a free header all showed we were in the game throughout and had chances to take something out the game.

They'll feel (rightly) they were let off the hook today.

Also, if memory serves me right, two or three of their shots on target arose from one single chance. Had the first one gone in the other two would not have occurred.

I didn't go or watch today, in this circumstance I'll value the opinion of someone who watched the game with objective eyes and knows a bit about the game over someone who forms an opinion from a statistic.

Anyone that knows football understands that stats often tell a false story. Exhibit A , we absolutely dominated this game and never looked like losing.

Leave the stats to this man;

A fair bit of them running straight through us in those highlights, down the wings and both channels. I suppose that's what you get with Ndiaye and MGW both playing, very little protection
No its what yoi get with Norwood and Fleck in the midfield. Ndiaye and MGW are there to provide the flair, make chances and score them.

What exactly are Norwood and Fleck there to do? They are slow, small, unathletic and easily bypassed. If we had a couple of athletic, hard working, hard tackling players in there with MGW and Ndiye we'd be a totally different team.

Hopefully Slav will eventually recognise this, I thought it was why he tried to sign Viera.

7 to 1 is significant.

You said ‘chances’, which isn’t anywhere near the same thing as shots on target. For example, the best two chances today were Sharp’s and Zemura’s, neither of which were ‘on target’.

It’s far too simple to just look at the stats and make an assumption based on that.

It was 59% - 41% in our favour at ht , have ever said anything positive about United ?

We might’ve been unlucky in this game. But we’re meandering in lower mid-table for a reason. And it’s not a case of being unlucky in these opening 11 games. We’ve been shit. Can’t see it changing.

Because we don’t score goals, have a poor defence and a non existent powder puff midfield. We used to be a team but last season sucked all confidence out of us and Slav expects the same players to somehow find that confidence…… why not play hourahan today????
We need to mix it up. The measure of insanity is continuing to do the same over and over and expecting it to work.
Slav and Wilder just will not change things
Slav has changed things. But if you expect him to get us into top 2 overnight then you'll be disappointed. It'll take time.

While we didn't win, to me it was our best performance of the season and I'm more optimistic now than if we'd played shit and fluked a draw. Slav had them all fired up from the go and the energy levels were the best I've seen under Slav. Keep performing like that and we're a top 6 side.
