I don’t think I saw one negative comment about this interview on any Blades forum.

So what’s changed now? Why do some think that Wilder should doff his cap and keep it zipped? Is it because it’s our own owners and board he’s saying it as it is to?

There's nothing wrong with what he's saying there. I think the difference now is that he may be using the situation at the Lane as an excuse to jump ship and go swimming for the dollar signs on the horizon. We'll see.

I was critical of it, not so much the 1st one, but the 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th time he was interviewed afterwards.

Saying it once when a takeover was clearly close is one thing, rattling on about it is another

Some may think that but nobody knows for definite. What if he’s said the things he’s said for the love if his club and he’s just trying to get the owner’s attention to at least work out something viable between them in the interim?

The problem is I think that some on here have have taken what are nothing but rumours, personal opinions and in some cases downright lies as facts, and seem to be happily and openly sending a message to the bloke that they don’t really give a toss if we lose him.

I’ve been really surprised at some of the comments, I thought at first a lot of the negatives would be instigated by our resident undercover Pork and I’ve seen a few stirring the pot, they’ll be desperate for him to go. Most are from genuine Blades though who seem to at have least in part turned against him. I personally think that he deserves better after what he’s achieved for us and we should trust his interview comments as completely selfless at least until it’s proved that they were not.

Yes, but if the 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th, or 5th attempts didn’t make the two goons sit up and take notice, should he just sit on his hands and leave the club to its fate?

I don't think it's a case of turning against any one, more a case of "here we fucking go again". Total exasperation.

Personally I think it’s a conversation he should have had in private with both parties, I am not a believer in left wing placards. If he doesn’t like it then that’s something between him and the board. The way he’s done it looks like an excuse

he needs to know what the score is so that he can plan. if we don't get investment in the team then people will be calling for his head by November anyway so he may as well jump before he gets pushed. in a professional capacity i have worked for companies with zero ambition who will not invest.. it's doable but incredibly wearing having to do everything on a shoestring and coming up with workaround after workaround constantly pulling rabbits out of hats..i don't blame him at all..

it is an excuse. we should have properly replaced coutts when he got injured. if we'd have spent 3 million on a decent premiership midfielder (and they would have come. we were near the top at the time) we could have been promoted easily. Fulham went out and got Mitrovic.. we got a couple of lower league players who have done ok but ok isn't enough at this stage

Maybe he could have spent the money used on Leonard, Evans and Holmes on one player. Not like they have been overused

Replacing Coutts for £3m. Really?

well that's ten bob.. where is the other 3 million?? :)
seriously. that's wilder trying to pull out another rabbit. hoisted by his own petard i reckon on that score

I don’t know mate, maybe it’s down to the frustration of not being able to get anything done privately. One thing’s for sure it’ll all come out in the wash, hopefully quickly.

Too much speculation on all sides. He could be looking to take care of himself and genuinely feel like Sunderland is a tempting offer. He could just be angling for a better contract here. He could be taking the opportunity to make it crystal clear to the board that the side needs investment to move forward i.e. trying to pressure them into the very thing we all want them to do.

We'll find out when it happens.

People react in different ways.

Some will take offence to anything that they see as an affront to SUFC.

Others don't like any criticism of the boardroom from anywhere.

If he leaves we will be back to huge division amongst the fanbase when we've had the most togetherness recently than I can remember in a long time.

History is written by the victors and wilder won that exchange.

Time will tell how his current actions are percieved

Personally I totally get why he's pissed off and I think we all get it. I would like to think (easy for me to say) that I would have kept the thoughts private to the board but we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, for all we know McCabe and the Prince may not be speaking to Wilder at all and he feels he has no other choice. He seems to be saying that from the interviews.

Its not the interview that annoys me, its the fact he can't rule out joining Sunderland and the circus that has now developed. Of course if he said he was saying and then went we'd all accuse him of being a Judas. But for me, I wouldn't leave United unless there were totally unworkable circumstances such as they were going to sack him anyway, which has being hinted if the Prince takes over by ViewfromJohnStreet. The problem is we just on't know the beginnings behind the scenes and this obviously could be a brave plan on Wilder's part to get the board to sort out the ownership or at the very least if they can't do that, then sort out transfer plans for next season.Whatever happens I'll always love Wilder but I just hope we keep Wilder as whatever we think of the recent debacle there isn't another Chris Wilder and he is by far the best man for the job.

If he does leave he might say the opposite. That he is leaving a club divided for one that is United, although ironically wouldn't be United - if that makes sense!

can't believe anyone would criticise Wilder for leaving in the current circumstances. if someone came up to you and offered to double your wages what would you do??
