It's been done on here before but I'm pretty sure Jim meant the former referring to how competitive, aggressive etc this league is.

It's very easy to ignore when it doesn't suit your argument.

For those who think he did mean to slag off the quality of the league, what would he possibly have to gain from doing this?
How would it make sense to call a league we've struggled to get out of, poor? Surely it would male him look even worse??

The only reason Phipps said anything at all was to try and address the grievances that we, the fans, were airing at him.
The comment he made about the standard of this division was an attempt to empathise with how angry WE are about being in a shit division for a fifth season.

We wanted honesty and a line of communication from the board for years. He tries that and we crucify him for it....

There are no outstanding teams and plenty of teams prepared to defend for a point and therefore hard to beat. There are also plenty of poor referees who cannot interpret modern "professionalism" and that makes the game a lottery. A low points haul will win the promotion. Look around, all the top teams are dropping points and a number of those up there will drop away.

Even Barcelona often have trouble playing against mass defences. Teams are defending against us even in our away games. No early breakthrough and it gets hard, very hard.

Doesn't matter what he meant. He made an ambiguous comment on social media that was open to misinterpretation and should be sufficiently aware to know that people with agendas will deliberately misinterpret his comments to further their agendas.
If he doesn't understand that he shouldn't be anywhere near a keyboard making statements on behalf of SUFC.
