Devante Cole

Seen a few people claiming he is signing this morning. Not sure how I would feel about it. He always looked decent against us but his record isn't that great.

If there's any truth to this one I'll stick it in the 'trust wilder's judgement' category. Can't say I've seen enough to have any real opinion on him; all I remember is his top tier athleticism. Brush up the football side of things and we'd have a player. :D

Would be a surprising and unconvincing signing. If anything I'd expect him to be a back up option.

He's quick, can finish and has some skill and ability but he's inconsistent and a lot of his all round game needs putting together, he's still very raw. Reminds me a bit of Lavery in a way.

But as I was saying the other day, you have to try to sign young strikers before they hit a prolific spell of goalscoring form. If Cole went and scored 15 by January then he'd be in quite high demand, and he has started the season well.

An unamed championship club have made a bid for him, not us surely?

Looks (on paper) like a typical Tufty purchase, taking the best player away from a club from a Div1 club

Reading Rosler's quotes too it seems to me, should it be us who have bid it could be a go'er.

I reckon it'll be Preston for what it's worth.

With his form so far this season, stacked on top of his absolutely electric pace and pedigree it could be absolutely anyone. He's worth a gamble for any club in the division.

I do hope it's us.

If it's us that would indicate we've moved on from Sinclair.

Don't think it'll be Preston, they have Sean Maguire, Callum Robinson and Tom Barkhuizen who are all pacy attackers, and they're holding onto Hugill.

Looks like Cole only has a year left on his contract btw. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-town-and-jamie-proctor-goes-to-bradford-city

And they can afford to let him go because they've got Hiwula and McAleny, who are both quite similar to Cole.

Would prefer this lad to Sinclair, personally.

Slightly worrying how Sinclair bombed so badly at his hometown club last season when offered a big chance.

Only thing is, I reckon Cole would be more of a "project" than an immediate fix. He seems to have been a sub more times than a starter at all his clubs so far.

Me too. As you say, Cole might not be an immediate starter but his record is decent and he is playing well now, as opposed to Sinclair who hasn't played this season and to my knowledge has never scored a league goal, albeit he hasn't played much.

And the real plus point: we'd be the ones who'd benefit from his development if he does well. With Sinclair you just know if he did well he'd be back at Watford in January and being touted around to clubs for silly money that we couldn't compete with.

He does have a year left but the club has a year option. I do hope it's us but fear it isn't.

Cole would probably be the only striker who would provide us with value for money this window.

Wouldn't surprise me if he has a release clause given his past reputation and the fact he signed for a small club in Fleetwood.

Rosler's interview also seems to hint that they'd be powerless if a bid did come in.

I'd be happy with him and would sooner sign someone we can develop for our own benefit than take someone on loan who goes back if he does well.

Last year of his contract, so fee would be reasonable. He seems to have a similar background to many of Wilder's other signings, in that he has been a top club without getting an opportunity and been willing to drop down to play regularly. Worth a gamble at 22 years old imo.

I've been banging on about this lad since 2015. Slightly less convinced now we're a championship club but given what our budget appears to be (not in the market for a proven championship striker like Dicko for example) then it could be a worthwhile signing. He had a loan spell with the Dingles and they need more up front so wouldn't be massively surprised if they were the club after him.

Championshipclub with bid, omitted from the squad yesterday. Club rumoured to be Preston...if not..

Looked like shit off a shovel.last season at the lane .young, resale value maybe worth a punt . We need couple strikers just got to happen

Right I'm going to bed now, its going down to the wire! When I wake up I hope to see we've signed Devante Cole, Ryan Leonard and Marcus Maddison! That would do nicely!

A Blade who has a close connection with someone at Fleetwood has said in Facebook that we will be signing him
