Desso Pitch..

The scruffy bit from last weeks warm up goals has fully recovered so i wouldn't worry too much. It'll be like a carpet for Chezzy.

Desso's earlier attempt to solve the growth problem in the corner areas by introducing additional watering....

Right.

Brace yourselves everyone....

Fully-braced? Good.

An extra, extra bonus. All the on-the-pitch work from the summer, all in 2 minutes.

When it was decided that we were to acquire a state of the art pitch I assumed there would be 3 benefits:
1 less likelihood of games being called off in dad weather
2 a superior surface to encourage slick passing and forward momentum
3 an advantage over other teams used to playing on surfaces akin to ploughed fields

1 as yet unproven
2&3 dead in the water after the last 2 matches

Need good players for number 2 kid...

Thought the reemergence of this thread was going to be due to the release of a special edition pitch-building footage.

Disappointing.

You forgot 4. Capable of putting on concerts and boxing. ££££ Really should go down as number 1 mind.

I could name a few posters who will tell you (having not been) that the last 2 games wew like watching the grass grow :)
No, trust me, I was at both games and stayed to the final whistles and watching the grass grow was much more exciting

Just an observation, but did anyone notice the ball occasionally bounce a lot higher a couple of times..I noticed Howard had to reach up to catch a ball that would normally been chest high on the old pitch...seemed to just kick up off the grIt also happened with a ball in towards Sammon.

....also happened with a ball in towards Sammon.
I noticed the one that bounce right over his head, couldn't have misjudged it that much!
That said same ball same pitch for both teams

I like it looks good and should hold, however I wonder if the players are wearing home boots at away matches seeing as at Crewe you'd have thought some of them were playing on ice. We're all Blades but studs on boots please!

What a load of fucking shit this pitch has been! We are playing the exact same turgid shit we were last season.

Can anyone honestly hand on heart say they would've preferred 2 more players than a pitch?

Why do I suspect that the posters moaning about the pitch would be moaning when we had to cancel games in the winter?

They won't be cancelled due to the pitch though BB, it will be because of the safety of supporters travelling to the ground from places like Germany(I think) to get to one match ;)

They won't be cancelled due to the pitch now, just snow.

With the benefit of hindsight it looks like we could have waited until we were promoted to do the pitch. But unless we were in the PL, where a million or so doesn't make a huge impact on your budget, there's never going to be a time when it would be better to spend the money on the pitch and not the team.

I'm happy we got the pitch done, we just need some players to play on it now.

Thought the pitch looked great yesterday. Normally by this time of year I would expect to see sand in the goalmouth and a trench where the linesman run.
