The Sun is reporting recently departed Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is on our list to take over as permanent manager.

He scored and was punched by Kieth Curle at the “Battle of Bramall Lane”.

Formerly managed St Johnstone & Bristol City.

Once got drunk with his brother in Frome. Or maybe he was his cousin. He was a good guy. Or he might have been a prick.

I ended that evening sleeping in the corridor outside my hotel room as I was so drunk I didn't realise my keys were in my pocket. Good night.

"In July 2019 he signed a new contract with Aberdeen, which is due to run until 2022.[55] After a poor run of results in early 2021, Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack said that the board were "fully behind" McInnes.[56] This run of form continued, as Aberdeen scored one goal in nine matches, and McInnes left the club by mutual consent on 8 March 2021.[57][58][59]"

At least he'll fit in

Lol. That list would have the most optimistic Blade reaching for the razor.

Anyone recommend by Alex Ferguson is definitely a no go there situation. Look what happened when he recommended David Moyers for the Man U job.

I'm not sure anyone could have succeeded in that role at that time. Moyes hasn't done badly since though has he?

While he wouldn't be my first choice, the same could be said for McInnes after doing poorly at Bristol City.

Yes he’s doing fine now, but if he came to us he would have to (Mclnnes) fill Wilders boots just like Moyes had to at Man U after Ferguson. Then after about 6months we will be looking for another manager

I may be giving the Utd Board more credit than is actually due but perhaps building in a gap between CW leaving and the new incumbent starting is an intentional move and a very shrewd one in order to negate or at least reduce the very issue you mention.

We will see the clubs ambition by the short list that is drawn up (hyperthetically speaking)

if all we see and hear about are out of work candidates, then that will send a clear message about the clubs ambitions. If the club think they’ve found the right man and he’s already employed, then that will send a different message. Neither path will guarantee success, but may tell us minions something about ambition seriousness and whether we actually have a pot to piss in.

I doubt you or anyone outside of the inner circle will see the shortlist - it certainly shouldn't be leaked anyway.

What does it matter if the new manager is currently in or out of work as long as he's the best option within Utd's reach?

Just because someone is out of work, doesn't make them a worse option than someone in it. For example, CW is currently out of work - would you prefer him or the in work John Sheridan if you were a club CEO?

Agreed. It's about the fit

However, I'm talking about only looking at out of work managers in the context of how much money the club have and tells us fans where we are at

Wilder only left after he agreed to a farewell statement ???
Really??

the only farewell statement that said absolute nothing, where do these journalists get these nuggets of information
