According to the Telegraph Derby are tracking Jon Stead.

Hope he stays myself, he's a good lad and could be a very good player!

I hope he stays too, although it wouldn't surprise me if he went back to the Rams. The only reason his loan with them didn't become permanent is apparently because Sunderland were unwilling to take Lewin Nyatanga in part exchange.

Hmmmm had we not signed him I think we should have kept him, but I don't feel he is a great loss.

Id rather he stay although someone is for the chop now Beattie is here.

I for one wouldnt be happy in him going, since he arrived he has fought well and especially after hulses injury, he sempt like the only guy who wanted to put the ball in the back of the net. The goal against wigan sums it up for me, most strikers wouldnt have stuck there head in there for it. Very very brave, gave his all IMO

IF he did go though best of luck to him.

I think Stead would be a big loss. He's been fantastic for us so far, and will be useful this season in my opinion, would be sad to see him go.

He was on loan for them last year so it's no big suprise, but i'd love him to stay. And the fact that Robbo has been playing him must show he is in his plans.

wouldn't like to see him go, i think he's one of the main strikers: Beattie, Hulse, Stead, Webber, Sharp. He'll be a striker we'll need not only for this season but if we go up, he's proven he can hack it in the premier with us

I'd be happy with those 5, and let Horsefield, Nade and Shelton go, to be honest. By which I mean those are the ones I'd most like to see go; in an ideal world we'd keep them all but 8 strikers is just a bit daft ;)

I'd agree with that Matt..... we need to let 3 strikers go it really is that simple.

If we could guarantee that we would get a decent price for the 3 mentioned I'd keep Stead,

Although Derby are reported to have bid £5m for Southampton's Kenwyne Jones.

Horsefield should go end of.

Nade should go out on loan since it dosnt look like he can secure a perminant move.

Shelton looks a decent player and with the price we payed for him id rather he stayed. He played very well against Man U and i think he could be a surprise package for us.

Agree. Ish. I'd be happy to let Horse go, in fact I'd be bloody ecstatic and drive him to his new club myself. I'd also let Nade go, either on loan or permanently, but as for the third to go it would be a toss-up between Shelton and Webber. Webber has to show a lot more than he did last season, and I don't think we've seen anywhere near the best from Shelton.

Come back Jon

BILLY DAVIES is ready to raid Sheffield United with a £1million bid for Jon Stead.

Derby boss Davies wants to offer Stead another crack at the Premier League and bring him back to Pride Park.

Blades striker Stead spent three months on loan at Derby last season and Davies now wants him to make a permanent switch.

Davies is desperate to bring in more firepower ahead of the new season and has also seen a £5m bid for Southampton's Kenwyne Jones rejected

From today's Mirror.

If Kenwyne Jones is worth £5mill, Jon Stead is worth at the very least that.

yeh that's very true.

All other teams are getting way over inflated prices for players!

I agree with all that. :p

2 words derby:

Fuck off.

why would he go to them. they look like they will be the next watford and be down streight away.

Hes better staying with us, a league lower but settled and around better players.

ROBSON DISMISSES STEAD TALK

Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson has dismissed speculation linking striker Jon Stead with a move to Hull.

Stead, who arrived at Bramall Lane from Sunderland for £750,000 in January, is one of eight first-team strikers vying for a starting place in Robson's side.

But Robson told Blades World TV: "No there's nothing in that.

"As far as I'm concerned my squad is more or less complete. There will only be players coming in rather than going out."

Robson has confirmed he wants to add a creative midfielder to his squad - summer signing Lee Hendrie is struggling with a cartilage problem - and will continue his search this week.

Looks like he has pissed on those rumours.

If they want another of our players to join Claude then they can have Horse.
Otherwise they can sod off.
