Strange question .
Moved away 7 years ago , see no reason to return to sheffield unless you know otherwise .
Had a much more life experience moving away . There's nothing in sheffield that would bring me back although I stay often for weekends.
I know where you are coming from pal, I moved out of Sheffield a year ago and loving it no bother at all where I am nice and quiet and the locals are so friendly. Only thing spoiling it is when shopping you can spot the odd Forest fan sometimes. Not missing Sheffield at all.

Hey up pal , I take it you live in the east midlands now ?
I didn't move to get away from Sheffield I moved to be with a woman from Derby I met on Sheffield train station by chance .
Derby was OK when I moved but it's a tiny place with nothing happening. Plenty of real ale pubs but there boring.
You can walk from one end of derby to the other in an hour . In sheffield it would take 4 hours .
Derby is a huge druggie city , as a non smoker and never took drugs it shocked me how much of a druggie place it is .
I would never return to sheffield but I love visiting .
Hull is looking likely for next move as I love the place and the people .
Where I am in derby I've got pride park stadium basically thru the park 5 mins away , the old baseball ground a 15 min walk .
The airport = east midlands 15 mins on the sky bus . But the people ain't kind .
My best mates at work are manchester and Birmingham lads .
Glad your move has worked out .

If teams sit deep in numbers then you need to make the most of set pieces. It always annoyed me when we tried to continue playing through a wall of players. I hate cheating, but drawing out fouls and corners is the way past this. Score one goal from a free kick or corner and the other team has to push out and. abandon their plan. This is where O'Hare comes in. He's the kind of player who'll deliberately hold onto the ball to ensure that he gets fouled. It's a crappy part of the modern game but it stops teams who defend deep in large numbers.

I don’t think it’s what he was driving at mate, it read to me like an honest question which to be fair, you answered. I didn’t find it strange.

My own experience obviously a lot less than yours, Hull is like anywhere else, good and bad. It can be a bit scummy further up the coast at Withernsea but some nice houses on the way up there

Exactly Crab, just interested and he answered in a later post that he'd gone to Derby because that's where his partner lives.

I've always been interested in what makes people live where they do. I was in Sheffield til 18 yrs old then went to uni then down south for a job. I've travelled extensively but only really lived in 5 different places.

We are now getting to the stage of life where kids are going and im thinking where do we live the rest of our lives. The world's a big place and most of us never venture very far from where we were born and I have that feeling there's a lot more out there to experience....but where and when is the question

Live where your close family are.
Planes and trains etc to experience the rest!

Well said. I’m a Sheffield lad and this for all its faults is my home. But I love Brid and would love to live at the sewerby end.

When ms crab died I did toy with the idea of shipping over to the Algarve and just get driving on the airport transfers but I never did

And that's rightly why most people sont move. Children, grand children, infirm parents etc. However it would be nice to wake up in November looking at a blue sky rather than low cloud and day long drizzle or rain

No malice in my reply just curious what someone would think I had to move out of sheffield.
I divorced in 2012. Met a derby woman in 2014 and late 2016 moved to derby .
At first derby was OK but the more I've got to know every area its not a place I want to settle . I have a good job the lot but I'm not settled.
I'm in hull now , leaving later today. The people have always been sound and there's so much to do .
I'm 56 , I don't do nightlife I do real ale pubs where you can sit and talk about the past and different places.
I'm relaxed happy and can talk to anyone if they are sensible , there's always a dickhead Big decisions to make this week regards moving to hull as met 3 landlords and my potential boss .

I'm still just in S. Yorkshire but closer to Worksop than Sheffield. I did like Handsworth but that has got worse over the last few years dickheads moving into the area and crime increasing. Topped it off when we got a new neighbour all she did was get pissed in her back garden sometimes making a row until 3.00am, but you never knew who was spending the night with her male or female, half the cunts were on the marching powder we could see the dealers pull up on the road and one of them would run out to the car to collect.

I lived in a bungalow on the parsley Estate then after divorce a 2 bed on their.
Loved it in everyway but met a girl from Derby and took a chance and moved to alvaston in derby.
Had a top job on serious money making the fibre glass cars for mclaren , composite,
Had 18 months there then rumours were the gaffer was taking every penny asset out and we went in on a Thursday to be told 73 of us were redundant .
Done various jobs since and hold a top job down at minute hence why I travel alot .
I visit sheffield for the weekend once a month but I can testify I will never live there again . Its not how I remember it and it takes moving away to see that .
I'm up in Aberdeen in a couple weeks , one place I've never been but been told it's beautiful. I love Scotland the Inverness area but its remote.
Got alot of thinking to do between now and Sunday but for me I'm always happy when in hull .
The people make it .

It's weird aswell got to know so many people in hull , mostly rugby lads.
I've seen both hull kr and hull recently with them . Met a few hull city fans but rugby is the sport.
The people can't do enough for you even though it's a very impoverished city .

Well put

Anston/Dinnington?

Living in Alvaston was your first mistake then!

TBF most places with between circa 200 to 600k population are the same, some good points, loads of shit areas and some decent places. It's what suits you I guess, a massive advantage of Derby is it's an easy City to get to for any shopping needs etc, I live in a lovely town on the outskirts and you're in a great place for transport links with the peak district literally on the doorstep.

Everyone's experience will be different though so hope you get sorted somewhere decent in Hull, which personally I'd never go to East Yorkshire over Derbyshire but again, personal preference.

As for the game, my son is a massive Ram (I tried but it's his local side so I'm not going in too hard on him) along with his mum and her family so I see a bit of them. As above they are very defensive in their set up and look to hit on the break with Mendez-Laing, Adams and Berkhausen.

If we were playing them at Pride Park I'd be worried but their away from has been poor and I expect us to win quite comfortably if we score early. I do really like Warne though, he's a very down to earth guy and comes across really well and from people I know who have had interactions with him he's meant to be a really decent guy. Hope he's gutted come Saturday night though!

I think there's a fair chance we absolutely destroy Derby on Saturday. If they want to sit back then we can use Kieffer Moore's height in the box - up to them how they want to lose.

Beverley Road heading to Newlands is worse than Preston Road, Newlands is a shithole .
Anlaby Road is dodgy as past the hospital .
I was up Preston Road visiting craven park rugby ground .
Oi behave.

My son lived on Newland Avenue and his partner had a business there.

Nowt wrong with it.

What a kit this was. Growing up, my best mate was a Derby fan and had this kit. Loved it.

Met 3 different landlords here and all different areas . Want somewhere for 6 months before buying .
One was decent but sharing .
I'm home tomorrow night and will let them know by the weekend.
I'm sick of moving around different places but I know hulls the place. There's nothing derby but druggies begging .
When I lived there it was seen as the largest seaport in Europe with virtually no prostitution. Too many amateurs.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than beating these lot.
I live and work among them , very arrogant .
Don't mind Warne, I did some work for him years ago thru a mutual friend and he's a decent bloke not a big head or owt .
Sadly from my house I can see pride park I'm that close to the ground built on old swamp land. My weekend will be brilliant if we stuff them .
1-0 blades for me and moore to score.
I’m same about a 10 minute walk to the ground my house
