Demoralising

Demoralising? Nah. Mildly dissapointing

I've already forgotten that game................move on

We will move on and undoubtedly will be up for the West Ham game on the pitch and in the stands. We weren’t at the races today against admittedly a world class side

They beat Leicester 4-0 at Leicester, even more impressive.

I saw that game and they were great that day, but they didn't even need to play at 50% of that level to beat us convincingly tonight.

And their last game was a narrow 1-0 win over Wolves who made it far, far closer than we did.

Unlike some others I had no expectation of getting any points from this before tonight's game but it was difficult to accept us just sitting off in our own half for almost all the game watching them move forward without any attempt to take the ball.

It was very unlike United and coming so soon after an excellent show in defeat at Man City makes it a little disappointing. City and Liverpool are really not very far apart, in fact City are more likely to give you an absolute thrashing than even Liverpool are.

I'd just like to forget about it and get back to normality.

We played a team that's European and World club champions. That's not lost a game in a year in the prem. A team that cost at least 15 times more than ours.
It was clear we arent quite at that level yet.
But this team destroyed Leicester in their own back yard a week ago 4 -0.
Wilders said we didn't lay a glove on them . Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say they are different gravy.
Our passing tonight was well short of what we can do and Baldocks slip killed us before we'd settled into the game.

But they will piss the title maybe going undefeated. We just saw what levels we have yet to climb

Disagree mate, understand your thoughts, but getting thumped 5-0 cos we came out could have had a adverse effect on moral.
A big percentage of the game is played in the mind, getting rimmed could whack confidence, we can leave heads high, knowing there are zero games left this season to fear

Agree I think the tactics chosen was giving us a fair chance of a result, and may have been successful on one or two occasions out of ten. But it would have depended on avoiding the second goal. When it's just 1-0 you're always in the game.

We did have some chances. Lundstram's bouncing shot. McGoldrick's shot. Maybe Baldock's through ball to Lundstram could have been hit half a second earlier? The break when Van Dijk tackled Mousset. When Mousset crossed low Stevens was unmarked at the back post. Stevens ignored Lundstram in some space 2nd half. McBurnie's open goal sitter. While Liverpool were impressive, there were occasions where we could have punished them and nicked a result.

West Ham should be worried. Worst possible result and performance for them. We will play like mourinhos ' animals' when we come out next Friday. how long since we lost two in a row ? Watch out⚔️⚔️

We pushed players forward, played some really nice passes, put in a poor cross, and then it was in the back of our own net.

It's easy to say impose yourself on the game but it's another thing doing it against that opposition. They did to us what we've done to many a team. Passed us out of the game.

No shame in that at all although it's a defeat we move on, those 2 gentle bummingtons out of the way now its time to vent our frustrations out and give severe bummingtons out next being west haaam

We played the best team in the country that have looked outstanding all season.
Didn't get bummed.
Onwards and upwards say I.
COYRAWW...

every opposition supporter this season vs. blades: “we had an off night”

blades fans after losing 0-2 away against a world class team: “we had an off night”.

let’s suck it up, we were outclassed and we will be many more times in future, especially when we get to Europe, that’s football!

Probably because I’ve been used to watching us dominate teams over the last 3 years, made watching that tonight a bit demoralising almost like wanting it to end.

I get that Livetpool are in a different level but can’t help but think we could have imposed on them a bit more in the 2nd half and gone shit or bust
If that's the first game this season that you've felt that, you ain't doing bad!
You're very much still finding your feet & a LOT of teams are going to lose by more than 2 goals, at their place this season. Us for a start!

This exactly.

No bullshit VAR decisions, no bitching and moaning. We were just thougrly outclassed today. We should take pride in the fact that we lost 2-0 and not 4-0 like Leicester.
Always going to be a difficult match but I thought we accepted our fate too easily.
More like a training match ,the 1st foul wasnt committed until the 40th minute and it was Liverpool who did it.
When ever does an away side get to almost half time without committing a foul.
That somes us up really on the night ,we were passive and that disappointed me .
I think Wilder will think similarly.
Gone now we have to learn and put it to bed.

- 4 goals against the current Champions Citeh and European Champions, World Club Champions and Premiership Champions elect Liverpool away is a great 180 minutes of damage limitation for me. Demoralising my arse! Some people need to get a fucking grip.

At the back of our minds we’ve all been anticipating someone giving us a hiding, more than halfway through the season and it’s not happened. Plenty of other clubs have had one, eg Newcastle 1-4 Leicester t’other day. Thing is we’re not used to losing.

In our system, we're drilled to be solid and keep shape, we aren't as well set up to press. We playing build-up, possession football That said, we'd be trying to press the current European champions and Premier League champions-elect. Still, be interesting to see if Wilder brings in players who help us to press in the window.
As one of the tv commentators said, they have such pace and skill that you press them high, they hit it over the top (which they did quite often), you stand off, they pass it round you (which they also did 'a few times'
How WOULD you stop that 2nd goal?
17 seconds from their keeper to back of our net and it wasn't even a long punt forward!

All true! the only plus out of the game was we kept our shape well and didnt buckle under a constant red tide coming at us.
We deserve a lot of credit for that with the back 3 and Hendo on there game.
It would have been humiliating without them.

I just hope we recover our energy and composure for West Ham. I bet some of our lot had to sleep with the light on last night.

Not used to losing and I think we're also so used to smashing expectations at this point that it felt like another time we'd rise to the challenge and put them through the ringer, result or no result. Instead we got hit by what might be the best Prem team I've ever seen and possibly even ever has been. Seriously.

So I get why losing hurts and why people wanted more from us, but we really ought to forget the game ever happened and move on knowing our football is better than half the division.

Baldock’s slip changed the game. They didn’t have to push for a goal as they had one so could play safe passes and retain possession. They’re very good at that. At some point we had to push forward to get a goal and when we did, we got caught.

The players have been superb all season. Last night's below par performance was due in significant part to overload. We have played 1 more game than Liverpool over the festive season and we were unfortunate to have consecutive away games scheduled against the best teams in the Prem.
