A Blade I talk to when he comes into my workplace told me today that one of his mates works at Bramall Lane, in charge of the mascots or something and that he told him that Defoe is nailed on and we're also signing Crouch as Wilder wants a plan B.

First time I've ever been told solid, reliable information from someone in the know.

Yes.

I'd take Defoe, less keen on Crouch but he's been a class player in his day. Whatever anyone says about Crouch, I would love to see him score in front of the Kop and give it the Robot! Cheesy I know but I've always liked him, shame if he does come he's 48 now! Then there's Defoe at a mere 36! Is this was what it was like under Porterfield?!

Cheeky Charlie !

Blimey. Defoe aged 36. Crouch aged 37. Sharp aged 33. Clarke aged 33. McGoldrick aged 31. Washington youngest aged 26.

I'd be surprised if that wouldn't be the oldest attack force in professional football.

(Defoe & Crouch were at Spurs together for 3 years btw)

Doesn’t a Crouch earn £80k per week acting as Plan B for Stoke?

Can’t see that one, bit it would do the job.

Maybe Tufty said we need more experience in the forward line to captalise on the youth and vitality of Bill, Leon and McGoldrick! Washington's just too inexperienced!

I actually think both could do a job though saying that!

If this and the Dowell thing are true, I imagine Dowell and Defoe will be the ones all but signed and Crouch will be the one we have to wait for whilst Stoke sign someone to replace him.

Probably bollocks though. No offence Steve. Someone really close to the club once told me were Lewis Nyatanga and I told everyone I'd ever met. Looked a right wanker.

The bloke who told me is also a postman. This validates his credibility as postmen aren't allowed to lie by law.

I've always liked his missus, I'd like to score with her in front of the kop.

As long as Crouchy brings his Mrs to the matches, I'm in :)
