Being documented we are now short of Centre Backs (Deja Vu) due to the injury to Baptiste and Edgar's International Duty.
An article in the star quotes Adkins saying we have Harrison McGahey, and that Brayford and Whiteman 'can play centre half' but we've got a week to bring someone in if needs be.

I found it a bit odd he doesn't mention Kennedy at all... is he injured again? Or simply deemed not good enough for Adkins team?
 



I don't think it matters whether we have a defensive crisis or not, this guy just doesn't seem to understand how to put a team together.

Why change a winning side, just because players are fit again, don't they need to earn their place?

Does he really think Sammon is the answer up front, four weeks ago he couldn't even get on the bench, now he leapfrogs the young ones?

J Mac has been playing out of his skin, then he gets dropped?

I'm sorry but I have no faith in him, I'll get my ticket next year, but not with any belief.
 
So here we are Monday March 21st and the club suddenly realise that Edgar is on international duty. All those people on the payroll and no one had the foresight to realise this before Collins was shown the door. (And don't tell me he left voluntarily.)

Does anyone at that club truly care?

No. The club gave up on the season in January.

Collins effectively showed himself the door. His apparent confrontational attitude and reluctance to play as required led him to be dropped by Clough and if he was the player who Adkins alluded to when he said one player refused to play to plan (or whatever he said) then what option do the management have.

Of course he was under contract till the end of the season so could have chosen to stay but maybe the best for all concerned is that he (and no doubt his agent) found him a new opportunity to shout at a different set of players, (and good luck to him).

Baptiste can play centre back. Of course he is now injured. Many will have seen this injury coming with perfect clarity through their retrospectascope and only a couple of weeks back many were heralding Collins leaving as the best bit of business the club has done all season, it will now be used by some as a stick to beat the club.

Circumstances can and invariably do change very quickly in football, almost as quickly as opinions of this forum....
 
It seems it's have a go at Adkins time
most blades have given up on play offs ( I still think we can do it) so what's it matter that we are short of experienced centre backs.Kennedy went off injured last week (21s) which may give magahey an opportunity. Adkins I would think will be able to find a loan if he deems it necessary ( rumour on twitter we have enquired about K Wilson n forest). It's very tiresome all this spiel at Adkins ok he may have not have got the best from this squad but would the best have been good enough anyway. He will get next season to get it right, but like him I haven't given up on this season.6 points behind 9 to play it's possible
Good job Churchill didn't crawl into a hole and die against overwhelming odds against gerry or most of my age group would never have been born ( my dad was a Tommy and obviously came back) , a bit of positivity at this time wouldn't go amiss.

A fair point re Baptiste.

Of course, this point does not apply to Edgar. That was 100% predictable, as he's always in the Canada squad.

But of course none of this matters. The board have no interest in spending any more money this season if they can avoid it. It'll be McGahey - like Sammon, another one who's proved he's not up to the job - and McEveley and cross your fingers.

Collins 'confrontational attitude' could have come from his insistence not to play higher up the pitch due to his understanding of his and others weaknesses in the pace department. If this is the case then I think the events at Milwall may well have proved him correct.

It's these type of points that I wish RS 'journalists' would use when questioning Adkins and not the usual trivial 'well Nigel what's your take on today's performance' which then allows him the opportunity to repeat the same old absolute drivel.

As much as the comparison of football being similar to war (e.g "wouldn't like to be in the trenches with you lot") is complete and utter bollocks, I'll give this little beauty an answer.

Who are you actually comparing to Churchill and the Tommie's this week? Those who get paid more than the vast majority of us, and seem to have given up on the season, or those who are paying for the opportunity to watch them do so?

As I say, opinions change very quickly.....

You might be correct about Collins being aware of his own limitations, however the boss may not always be correct but he is always the boss, (well at least until he is changed for the next boss).

All I was saying is don't give up on the season with 9 to go.Sorry if you took offence to my way of putting it

Collins isn't the manager so it's not down to him to decide how we play.

Some fans grecian not all just some.The club and the players still want it ,maybe we are not good enough but it's illogical
for club and players to give up with 9 games to go as I say it can be done.I do think maybe 1 or 2 loans are still possible
that's not a club who has given up.

It's not illogical for the players that are out of contract in the summer. They don't give a shit, they know we hate them and they know they're leaving. They also know they'll get new contracts elsewhere.

Since Harry Maguire walked through the door marked Exit, and his partners and colleagues in the back four seemed to fall out with the manager (or vice versa) would be my estimate.
Allowing it to continue for a full season cost the previous manager his job, not addressing it for another season hasn't done the current one any favours (perhaps that won't appear on his glittering CV though).
 
Does Kennedy really exist? The odd sighting of him has been reported, but like The Loch Ness Monster he never seems to make an appearance.

Still not bothered about Collins not being here even with Edgar and Baptiste absent. Happy for Tel, Harrison or someone younger like Semple or Adebowale to get a shirt. This season’s over and I’d rather save the few quid wages towards next season’s budget. Do we still have Banton or has he been released? Not seen his name in the U21s for a while?

They may get contracts elsware but none trying players will be sussed and will not find it easy to pull in a well paid deal.Ime sure Adkins has got enough experience to suss out any none tryers and not play them.
