To throw a name out there, not necessarily as an alternative to Hendo, but as a second choice - Tom Heaton. He’s rejected a new deal at Burnley. Bournemouth allegedly interested to add to their collection of goalies.
goid shout.. Heaton is quality

Looking promising...

Good to rear that Matt......but not done yet. I still feel if he carries on his tremendous form for the under 21s that a big club may move in. Having said that, the loan seems to have been agreed and looks like going through....please god.

I think he will 100% stay with Man U long term and eventually get a chance in their first team.
Short term I am 90% sure he will be with us next season, but it all depends on their ins and outs.

Blades boss Chris Wilder is delighted Solskjaer is letting him return and said: “Dean made it clear to us that he has a very strong interest in coming back to Bramall Lane, and Manchester United are happy to go along with that."

... Knowing how CW deals with media and statements. I highly doubt he would issue such a quote without the deal being done (whether it's in a pre-contract form or an actual agreement).

Probably can't announce yet until Deano's back from u21's ... pending his new contract and then medical?

After last night's clanger I think it will cool talk of him pushing for a start at man utd, might have done us a real favour. He still has those mistakes in him clearly.

All keepers make mistakes, the sign of a good one is how they react to making that mistake.

We saw what Dean is made of, in the games following his clanger v Leeds, likewise he will recover from last nights howler.

The only top class keeper I can’t remember making a mistake was the superb Pat Jennings, but I’m sure Spurs or Arsenal will tell a different story.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's a cracking player.

Personally Alan Kelly was one of my favourite all time players and can't recall him making too many mistakes, if any...but that might be with my rose tinted glasses on.

Think a couple of errors might have helped us if man u were considering keeping him or driving a harder bargain.

Personally, I’m not to fussed if a young keeper makes some errors. It happened a couple of times last year, Leeds and villa in big televised games- and didn’t effect his confidence or performance.

He’ll drop a few bollox no doubt but will save us more points in the long run

Silent,Once again my admiration for you has gone up another notch.

There was the time he tried to dribble around Lee murderer Hughes and lost it. I did hear recently that Wilder was at fault for that though, cos Kelly was carrying an injury and the defenders were told not to pass it back to him, only Wilder forgot!

Kelly and Nielsen used to get themselves in a tangle on occasion.

Romero is reputedly on £70k a week and Lee Grant is on £30k. So I suppose those are the bookends.

According to press reports, DH is currently on £25k a week and wants £75k a week for his contract renewal. He has 12 months left, with Man Utd have an option of a further 12 month extension.

4th choice senior keeper, just £75k a week. Bargain.

Tin hat time, but as good as he did for us last season - strip out the chest pumping and histrionics - and all you've got a decent young keeper who's still got a rickett in there every dozen games...

If that's what £75k a week gets you in the PL, the world really has gone crazy!!

It’s relative. £75k would probably put him in the lower tier of first team squad players at Man Utd. Compare it to Sanchez on £500k plus and Pogba. DeGea wants (and deserves) £350k and apparently Rashford is wanting £200k.
He’ll get a bit less which is than he’s asking for, but 50k isn’t unreasonable. Chelsea and Man City were rumoured to be paying 30-40k to some academy prospects to keep them.
Top teams overpay in order to retain talent because if they make it, it’s cheaper than finding an alternate in the market. I mean there’s talk of £75 million fee for Harry Maguire what the fuck is that all about? Plus he’ll be wanting 200-300k a week on top for 5-7 years. It’s entirely logical to be paying Hendo that to retain him at Man Utd and no where near crazy. The crazy part was when they offered Sanchez 500k to keep him away from City, and now they’re having to overpay average first teasers.

I think he probably is one of the top English keepers but until he shows it at the top level, he should be told to fuck right off if he is asking for that.

I get that you pay for potential but there's got to be a limit.

Neil Etheridge is a bit older but still, should easily have a 5 year contracts worth of appearances in him, but no-ones jumping to pay him £75k a week and he kept 2 less clean sheets in the Championship but crucially 10 in the Prem, and is widely regarded as a fantastic keeper at that level.

There's also paying so they don't go elsewhere but again, where does it stop?

Clubs are being bent over by agents and it has to stop somewhere. It'd be a brave club but I'd love it if one just straight up said no.

Rashford wants £350k a week, just say ok then, bye, we'll find someone else that wants to play football not line his pockets, call the agents bluff because Barcelona don't want Marcus Rashford, it's bollocks.

I fear the time to sort agents out has passed though, and the PL are unlikely to do anything re: a rule change.

It's a short career and requires a lot of devotion, so I don't begrudge players getting paid well, but half decent Championship players are getting a decent yearly salary a week as is, some restraint is required.

I'm sorry but no footballer "deserves" £350,000 per week

I sometimes see wages and think "that should say 'year' shouldn't it?".

He'd be earning in a month what the majority of the people watching him earn in their lives, and not even the hard up ones, the comfortable ones.

It's batshit football. I'm hoping Wilder starts a sort of hipster "we pay what you're worth" movement in the Premier League and it takes off.

It’s a point of view that I know is out there, but they aren’t the average man in the street. I believe top performing employees should be paid in line with the money their organisation makes off the back of them, and of course there is socialist view that the gap between them and and common man is obscene, but that’s the country we live in.
If you were one of the top performers in the world in your role, at the biggest company, your wage should reflect that.
If you don’t like the amounts don’t contribute to their coffers, but you’ll need a lot of people to agree with your stance to make a dent but I’d applaud your efforts.

It’s called the start of negotiations. If he goes in asking for £75k he might get £50k. Whereas if he goes in asking for £50k then he’ll only get £40k.
Jamal Blackman anyone,Neil Etheridge anyone, how much £ will they be on.
Chelsea’s ridiculous wage structure means he’s probably already on £50k
