Deadbat has only gone and written an exhaustive review of United kits from 1970 to the current day, a guest blog on 'Dem Blades.' Part 1 of 2, he reviews home shirts that are, for the most part, from his exclusive private collection.

You'll have to read to find out what DB's favourite is, but mine is most certainly 1996-7 Wards. A lovely number. Although I do love the 'old school' too.

All of this leads me to the question, what is the best/worst United Home Kit of all time?

Worst: diamond monstrosity 1995-6 or the horrible white one in the Adkins year are tied.

Diamond home shirt was a mess. Didn't like the 'throwback' with the laces either

Last years was a great shirt. Loved the shirt under Basset with the thin black stripes

It's a super-human ability. Changes sizes like Lee Evans changes clubs.

Yes the last few are my 10 year olds....I still need last season's home and away if anyone fancies parting with them for a reasonable price?

I have contacted the guy in Australia (Grim up North) and he is looking at doing a few of the ones I am missing. Would prefer the originals but some of the reproductions are excellent.

Warnock made a comment along the lines of 'we're better in black shorts' or maybe it was 'we're luckier in black shorts' - I tend to agree.

Definitely black shorts - I associate white shorts with relegation. Red central stripe on the shirt too -always thought that a white central stripe was unlucky. Superstition I know, but we all wear "lucky" underpants ( well at least until we lose) don't we?

Reading that reminded me how many bad ones we have had. The 00s being a real bad patch for shirts. I did like the 2007/08 shirt though.

His are quite good. Don't know that I need the Cantors third strip mind...

Which ones are you referring to Deadbat? Having read the article just now (very good) it appears you want the two yellow ones from the 80’s. You aware we (shorehamst.com) did the 86 one? And the yellow one prior to that is in the pipeline, as GUN Retro is fully aware. The home is also dropping soon.

I think I glued mine back on because it kept falling off. It was made out of some weird, crappy plastic material. It was so shit you had to wear another T shirt underneath it. And we had red shorts that season.

Got the 86 one as a reproduction from you guys (Shireham St magnifique- love your stuff btw). Pictured in the article. Would love tge original. Ditto for the yellow 83-85 one which I dont have ...but be great if you do a reproduction of that. I have got the umbro mid 80s one. Bit tight but one of my faves.

Looking forward to GUNs Cantor yellow/white he is doing. Hoping one of you does the broad red hobbot too. As I say would love originals of any of them but know people won't want to sell. Also be good if someone does the white with diagonal sash mid to late 70s.

Think the reproductions are superb so fair play to those who are doing them...as I say anyone who may want to negotiate for any originals drop me a pm.

Ah the cardboard HFS shirt! The one with Desun was not much better. Sponsor added several pounds to the shirt. Surprised the players won so many games in them carrying such weight!

Aye, the Desun one was crap too but its associated with some of the best memories I have watching United so I forgive it a lot.
