The Everton fans song about DCL is one of the best I've ever heard, fair play to them for that

We’ve got a buy back clause for £2m, we just lost the paperwork so no one knows about it.

Looked like a lanky lightweight when he left us and wasn’t too bothered about him going.

He’s quite some player now though. Looks real quality and fabulous In the air too.

Wasn’t he 5th or 6th choice striker.
The deal at the time was a no brainer for us....the bigger picture shows it was a fantastic deal because it helped contribute towards our promotion.
If he had stayed his developement would have been very different and DCL might now be plying his trade in the Championship.
I’m pleased for him....I’ve heard he’s a decent down to earth lad.

Nailed on to score against us I would say. Has everything we can’t deal with at the back - pace, power and finishing ability

wasn’t too sad when we let him go, didn’t think he looked like he could finish. BUT you could see he looked like a footballer and had all the raw attributes to succeed - had a top level players build. Credit to Everton and Dom himself for the development he’s shown.

The list of quality players we have "given away" is endless.

March 2015. I went to the U18 Piglet Vs Piglet Derby in S6. Ramsdale & Brooks both played in that. Dominic had been promoted up to the First Team fringes in the weeks before & had been on the First Team bench. But, the loan signing of Steven Davies pushed Dom back down the pecking order & he "dropped" from the First Team to the U18s.

In a recent interview with David Unsworth he stated he couldn't believe how cheaply Everton got him for.

I've never had a problem with us selling to 'survive' or 'reinvest' its the amount of money we have sold for thats the problem.

Has any club ever sold 3 players for a total of.less that 10m to see the said 3 be worth 200m at some point in the future?

It begs the question of how football savy the 'people' doing the negotiating were. If Unsworth could see the potential in DCL why couldnt anyone left at the Lane?

After seeing his performance in THAT Bury match, I'm still bemused he's developed how he has, because he was bloody awful that day.

Hard to fathom that with Adams in the line up as well we witnessed circa £75m of talent on that dreadful evening.

Just three shots in the match, none on target!

That was a low ebb, and puts our current plight in perspective. Less than five years ago.

HH

A low ebb? HH, king of the understatement 😆

Did he say anything at the time or is this just hindsight?
And how many times do players go for a fee which seems like good money when they turn out to be duffs? (Slew, Quinn W)
DCL has turned into a great goal poacher but I can't honestly see him going to Man U, City, Chelsea, Liverpool or even Arsenal who all seem to prefer the Galacticos type.

I'd love to know how much Duncan Ferguson put in to make DCL the player he is today.

Could we unearth another? Is Tyler Smith the next DCL? Will it require a move to a club who recognises that talent and invests the time and effort into a young player that will end up becoming a full international?

Or do we have the coaching methods and personnel to do it ourselves?

Not at all surprised to see DCL or Ramsdale's rise. I predicted that we were giving them away at the time. Dom was already looking pretty special up top after only playing there for five minutes. How his body developed and how long that would take were always going to be pivotal. It took maybe a year longer than what I thought for him to fill out.
Ramsdale has a lot of growing to do and unfortunately in the same areas that he was lacking in when he left (command of area, aerial balls, kicking). I was happy for him to play in the first team from the start of the season when he left, but I can understand why CW/AK brought a more experienced keeper in. I was disappointed that we resigned him as I watched almost every Bournemouth game last season, and could see that he was a long chalk away from being a top premier league 'keeper. He could still develop into one though: a year or two in the Championship would probably benefit him - there's less pressure and more games..
Adams always looked like the physical archetype of a great modern striker in terms of his shape; it was more attitude and fitness that put the question marks on him. Would the penny ever drop? He was a different man in Birmingham so the move was very good for him..

Because we've always been shit at negotiating. For me it started with Jones, Birchenall etc etc etc
