DCL Coming Back

This is the most ridiculous post I've ever read. I've played 1 or 2 levels above my ability from time to time and it's a humiliating experience, you simply can't get near the ball, never mind score goals. the chances simply don't come your way.

There is no luck in football success, it's a real meritocracy, the only players who have real ability and don't make it, either have injury/heath problems or have "issues".

You are in dreamland.

Totally agree. I can think I am in unstoppable form, then come up against a team (usually in the cup) who are much better than us and I immediately want to pack it all in after barely touching the ball. The biggest difference for me as a striker is how much you get monitored off the ball by better players. Making runs through decent defenders is a nightmare as they will constantly block you, foul you, or just generally be a pain in your arse. You're constantly hoping for a mistake as opposed to generating chances yourself, unless you're better than me of course.

I wouldn't say DCL is much of a prospect really.

If he was he'd have shown a bit of something by now.

He's among a few disappointing academy players of recent.
Can I be the first to nominate this for January's bullshit post of the month?

Might be an idea to wait a few years to see whether it is bullshit or not first.
Then surely it might have been a better idea not to post it in the first place? On what basis would you say he isn't much of a prospect? Didn't look out of place at Ilkeston and has now had a couple of impressive loan spells over the last 12-15 months and the lad is still 18 and learning fast with an excellent attitude. True, he could fall away but let's not right him off before he's barely started. He's just a prospect yes....... But an exciting one

Based on?
Upon what have you based your opinion that he's an "exciting" prospect? A couple of loan spells in league two? If we're being ultra thorough, there's a very good case to say that nobody can have much of an opinion on him really, unless you've been out of your way to attend Shirecliffe, or Northamptons ground (can't remember what they call it).

He obviously hasn't shown enough in training for the coaches to play him in first team games. It's an understatement to say I don't think much of Reed, and when he's getting a lot more game time it has to be showing something. And when you compare him with the likes of Adams, who is of similar age I believe, it can't inspire much hope.

I've watched him at Shirecliffe Barney
Have you??
Yet again your opinion is based on absolutely nothing other than to critisize for the sake of it. Go watch him a few times then come back to me. I've seen him far more than you (if you ever have) to judge him at this stage

None of us have seen enough of him to know if he will make it for the blades (like you say, unless you've followed him around the country) but I'd be surprised if he didn't have a career in pro football. He has talent and a very good work ethic (am told). Maybe that's the difference between him and DdG? Done well we are lead to believe under Chris Wilder. Until we see him we have no idea how far he's progressed and what Adkins has lined up next. Let's remember that players develop at different ages and rates but while ever he's progressing the signs can only be good

And where the fuck is he? Why bring a player back and then not even give him a spot on the bench.

Adkins has gone on about the youth players and bringing them through but where are they?

How on earth do you expect him to get a place on the bench ahead of such proven players like Woolford and Flynn?

Seriously though, I do agree.
