According to Radio Sheff, DW is considering abandoning the passing style in order to win a few games. Pinchy will be pleased!

This lot are not going to win by smacking it long.
What they do need to try is playing with greater pace, pressing more and getting forward with more purpose. Any side can defend if you give them time to set up, we need to turn defences with quicker balls to our front man/men. All very well passing around in midfield in an attempt to work the opposition, but they know we can't break them down this way right now.

I think a flat cap/trackie top combo might provide a bit of sartorial impertinence and deviation from the usual lawyerly fare.
I do admire Weir's shoes. In a non-Darren kind of a way.
I like Adam Ant is because his backing singer dresses thus:
Do we have the players to play hoofball? The defence will be pleased that they now do not have to play risky square balls when fast opposing strikers are defending from the front. Our midfielders are short in height, Taylor isnt strong in the air. King is playing for Jamaica this weekend and Porter (our best striker in dealing with aerial challenges) is on loan to Chesterfield. Dave Bassett realised this when he first came to us and couldnt play hoofball until the start of the 1988/89 season after releasing flair players who are short in height (Dempsey, Frain etc) and bringing in big players also pacy strikers (Deane, Agana etc)According to Radio Sheff, DW is considering abandoning the passing style in order to win a few games. There are no leaders in the pitch (in fact, negative influences like Doyle and McMahon),
He needs to go.
Does anyone have a direct quote? Most of the responses seem to people deciding what he's said without actually hearing it.
One sentence taken slightly out of context could mean the difference between him saying we're going to either tweak the formation, press higher or up the tempo and being read as a 'we're going to start lumping it forward now so get ready for it'.

I think it is nice that Weir thinks he can switch Wins on and off at will
I hope someone has faxed Coventry that we are expecting a Win Sunday due to Weir changing tictacs
What could possibly go wrong ...............
Who will head in the crosses from the wings?I think Weir is right in trying something new. His style and system is highly dependent on confident, creative players with good movement, but at the moment this is not reality.
I'd revert to a more traditional, narrow 4-4-2, simplify our style, up the tempo and aim to get in behind them through mobile strikers. Creativity out wide, but not in the shape of out and out wingers. We need to give away less space in midfield and Baxter and Cuvelier should be less advanced than what we've seen previously.
LongMcMahon - Maguire - Collins - HillCuvelier - Coady - Doyle - BaxterBrandy - Taylor
Let me add that I don't think 4-4-2 is a better system in itself, but player roles are slightly easier defined, and most players should be well used to it from past experience. Weir has tried two strikers in the last couple of games, but sort of messed it up by playing an oddly shaped diamond, probably to keep Baxter in his favoured role. I think we must sacrifice that and hope that Baxter will provide throughballs and creativity from wide, similar to Glyn Hodges or Andy Reid.
