And unfortunately that's the belief propagated by Thatcher that has alienated so much of todays younger population as they believe that they have no chance of ever achieving success and money unless they steal it or sell drugs.
It’s not just Thatcher though. It’s the whole basis of capitalism and consumerism. Marketing and advertising to sell us shit we don’t really need. They use psychologists to work out what triggers us, create insecurities that we think can be solved by getting a Rolex, an M5, a new kitchen, a bigger TV. The concept of a fucking upgrade.
When I grew up, you bought stuff when the old thing didn’t work anymore, now people just replace things for the sake of it.

And the work we do to get these things keeps us away from our loved ones, our friends and families; the things that are more valuable than a Patek Phillipe, a Bentley and a mansion.

Wow ... a great post BB.

Read somewhere Michael Jordon's Nike annual contract is worth more than $100 million. Which apparently is more than all the Nike factory workers in Malaysia put together earn. Brand names have little to do with quality and much more about lining the pockets of people who are already wealthy.
