Played a bit of Premier League cricket with Dave a few years ago. Decent enough lad but always more a 'referee type' than a 'one of the lads type' player.
Seems like he always seems to do something that hugely annoys one set of fans in most games.
Let's hope he's on our side on Saturday.

Too weak today, didn't stand up to the Millwall players in his face. He went to pieces a bit after wrongly awarding us a corner for our goal. How he didn't spot the worst foul of the day (on Duffy) is beyond me.
 
TBH. I thought the ref was poor but his linesmen were poor also.
It seems to be the norm for the championship nowadays!. UTB
 
I have been saying for weeks now that the officials in League 1 are better than in the Championship. One of the reasons I was so happy to be promoted last season was for us to have better officials..
 
I thought the Ref had a major spacial awareness issues yesterday:
He placed free kicks a least 2 metres away from where the foul occurred and made throw ins be taken a similar distance from where the ball actually went out of play.
His assistant became blind on a couple of occasions also!
 
Thought Lee Gregory must be his secret son, as he committed so many fouls second half without being booked
 
He's one of those referees who are sadly becoming the norm, looked like he'd never kicked a football in his life.

I got the impression it was all a bit too much effort for him. Wasn't even watching the game at times? In fact, he looked like he'd rather have stopped at home and finished his jigsaw. :(
 
Gave a lot of soft free kicks both ways, then failed to give the more obvious ones. Seemed like he wasn’t paying attention at times. Poor positioning getting in the way of play on a few occasions (though well done for hurdling the ball on one of those).

Overall far from the worst we’ve had this season.
 
No reflection on the result, but the officials were very poor. They completely missed the ball clearly going out of play at one point, which surely is a basic requirements.

The ref was very officious and fussy about positioning of kicks and throw ins but made us take a first half free kick 3metres further back from where the foul happened.

As for Gregory, no wonder he was smiling as he came off.
 
The Ref didn’t give us one foul in our own box from one of their corners when they were doing all sorts of fouls but then blew when we had a corner as soon as the ball was kicked for something that made all the players completely baffled, even the Millwall players, wanker!

Not that we’d have scored off any. :)
 



I thought he did ok.
Over the last two games i have i have come to the conclusion that United are too nice a side. Middlesbrough and Millwall where how shall i put it more Street Wise with little niggling fouls. Middlesbrough's number 4(We could do with someone like him) and Millwall's Morison being the worst culprits, but both teams had others doing it as well.
 
Anyone else think we might have got a penalty when it was 1-1? Would like to have seen it on the highlights.
 
I thought Coote did ok generally, let the game flow more than most do hence he missed a few...
However, sat in front of refs assessor and could plainly hear him tutting at a few of Cootes decisions..
 
Gave the fouls nut failed to control the game or adopt rules from the rule book re persistent fouling.

Millwall 17 fouls given against them. Us 7.

Boro 20 us 6 b.t.w.
