Yep that's how I remember it, Blacky took over and Carney stopped being picked, can't remember him doing much for us other than one really good goal (although I could have dreamt that!)

Yeah, looking at his Wikipedia entry I think you're right about him not doing too much. scored a grand total of 2 goals for us. Maybe I'm looking at things through my old rose tinted spectacles

It also looks like his mum wrote the whole thing for him when you read about the Blackwell situation:

He looked good on his debut, a bit lightweight but you could see he had ability.
Good control, decent skill, liked to play a short passing possession game but a bit slow.

There are similarities between him and Paul Coutts first season.
You can tell both were very good players but looked well off the pace and not effective enough.

Carney wasn't particular suited to the high energy more direct English game though.
Too lightweight and easily knocked off the ball.

That's an incredible showreel. I thought the same myself. If that's his best, he's not all that. I got bored of it and skipped the last minute.

He's one of those players who, for me, epitomises everything that was wrong with us at that time. In the main, ineffective.
