If Fleck goes anywhere I might lapse into a coma. It'll be too much.

Very disappointed that this move to chuffing Bournemouth has been confirmed.

Yet another in a long line of talented young players that United were unable to keep hold of.

This club fundamentally lacks ambition. Luckily many of its supporters do too, so it can continue to short change them for generations, while taking large amounts of their hard earned money.

This Club only lacks ambition if they have to pay for it.

They saw "you've got to speculate to accumulate" in a business text book once but misread it as "you've got to speculum to accumulate". That's why there's always a large opening for a shaft of some sort at United.

I’m over it. I would prefer to keep our promising youngsters but it’s not possible in football anymore.

If it’s £12m I’m just about satisfied with that. Would have preferred a tiny bit more but on reflection the fee is a lot of money for a player that has only exhibited potential so far. Talented lad without a doubt but he still has a lot to learn and there is no guarantee he will keep improving.

If at least the bulk of that fee is reinvested well into the first team (not holding my breath) then it’s a good deal for Sheffield United. I would rather have two or three proven players than one promising young player. If it’s not reinvested or if it is wasted, then it’s a bad deal. All depends on what happens next.....

Incidentally, Bournemouth local press seem to think it’s an initial £10m rising to £11.5m, whereas our local press seem to think it’s an initial £12m agreed. It’s tough to know which local hack is the accurate source...

Crikey, there's some sandy fannies around today.

1. Not having to sell is different to choosing to sell when the deal is good
2. Brookseh moved from man city when it became clear he wasn't going to get much opportunity in the PL. He's now moved from us because he's been presented with an opportunity to play in the PL.
3. He has an agent. Every player has an agent .It is that agents job to find the best opportunities for their clients. His agent has done that.
4. The skills and potential a player possesses are a commodity they use to maximise their income. Just like we all do in our own work.
5. He played about half a season with us, putting in some excellent performances along the way, and being ineffectual in some games too.
5. I'll put good moneh on CW saying something along the lines of "Brookseh is a real talent and we would have loved to have kept him. However with the money being offered we had to choose between improving several positions immediately or waiting a few years to consistently improve one position. It's a no brainer really. I'm just glad I got him to sign that improved contract a few months ago, otherwise we'd have got shit all for him."

Bollocks to him. We do not need, nor should we want, players who do not want to play for us. I’d always hoped that his experience at Man City might count in our favour. Stupid of me, in retrospect. We were always a stepping stone.

He’s actually given us very little, relative to what we have given him. That being the case, I can’t quite bring myself to say GLTTL. Rather, I’ll say IHHDRI (I hope he doesn’t regret it).

Said it on other threads. 20 year old with flashes of brilliance in 30 games. Potential to be our best attacking player since...... I have no idea. Player of the Toulon tournament. Full international after 10 senior games.

This is not your standard young, promising player. His pedigree is beyond Walker, Jagielka etc (at the same age) Might not happen but he has the potential to be the best player in a top 6 premier league game. Its fucking wank that we didn't get at least one full season out of him

Absolute rubbish .

Jordan Slew was a stand out player in our run to the FA Youth Cup final. Wayne Quinn looked like a world beater on his day. Adrian Littlejohn scored 8 goals in 27 premiership games as a 22 yr old. Last year was a very poor Toulon Tournament. Wales are desperate for players at the moment, Matt Smith from Man City played for them v. Mexico, and he plays for their u23's. ;)

Wales are not “desperate for players at the moment”, but will seize opportunities to try and tie a player down at senior level if eligible for more than one team.

I don't know whether FB1889 is ITK or not but he's incredibly close to what will happen in the next week or so . It's not JOC btw and it's not Burnley .
In that case, as you obviously know what is happening, why don’t you just say who, what and where? .............thought not!

I seriously doubt any other international set up was text pestering such a glittering roster of players as Tom Lockyer (Bristol Rovers), Connor Roberts (3 starts for Swansea), Jazz Richards (5 starts for Cardiff last season), Matt Smith (Man City u23), George Thomas (Leicester u23's), Ryan Hedges (Barnsley), Chris Maxwell (PNE), Billy Bodin (PNE) or Michael Crowe (PNE), other than possibly Gibraltar. ;)

It's all about opinions and it's not like he ripped every team apart. But did you not see the potential to be a star in Brooks? And we finally had a home grown attacking player and not a right back :)

That Bournemouth website statement makes me want to hit things haha

Please don't tell me he's the agent! Pound for pound probably one of the worst signings we've ever made and he's there with his smug grin on a photo of losing our best ever youth product to Bournemouth! A team that broke FFP to get promoted and is funded by a Russian billionaire. Yes I admit I'm jealous but its so annoying to be jealous of chuffing Bournemouth!

Still wish Brooks all the best though, he seems a really decent kid (no I don't know him I know) and he's given us some great memories and he signed the new contract last season which has given us a higher fee. Its sad that he's left at the first opportunity but most footballers would, even Die hard Blades like Kyle Walker, so I don't blame Brooks. It'll make for a few interesting weeks in the market!

Maybe we can shop at Aldi now as opposed to Poundland!

Maybe B&M Bargains, still don't think we're Aldi level.

:) Yes, I did, he showed glimpses of magic, but i'm not 100% convinced we're losing the next world superstar. But modern football is now all about bigger boys & stolen sweethearts. Barca & ReaI fuck over Spurs, who fuck over, us, etc. I would suspect that across the board we must pay between 25% to 50% less than the majority of teams in our own division, let alone the prem. When someone with more £'s comes knocking that's it, whether it's bournemouth, cardiff, fulham or brighton. That's life and we need to do the same to a lower level club than ourselves or pick up a few released players from man u, city, etc and repeat the process.

Someone has paid us a decent wedge for a player who's career might take off or might stall & he's their gamble now. As i've said on here before we're 3 to 5 players away from an acceptably strong squad depth and they need to be financed somehow. If at season's kick off, we have good quality LB, CB & CF on the books that DB's sale has paid for, I'll be happy. This time next year we need to be a championship club (at worst), that's the bigger picture, as long as what the club is doing is increasing the odds of that, i'm ok with it.

I’ve come to the conclusion that some of our fan base don’t like flair players because we don’t have many and when we do get one they can’t wait to reel out excuses as to why he should leave.

We didn’t need to sell Brooks but we did, get rid of your best players and you won’t progress, I’m sick of saying it now.

If Brooks wanted to leave then tell him he’s not going anywhere and that’s why he signed the contract not so long ago.

It really has come to things that we get bullied by clubs like Bournemouth though, they’ll be relegated sooner or later and we could have passed them if we’d have moulded a team round our better players but that rarely happens with us.

Not bothered whose fault it is, who decided to sell him or what the fee is, I’m just pissed off that another one of our prized assets and game changers has gone, just pissed off.

I’m off to the garden to have a bevvie. :(:mad:

....and relax Wiz. :)

I agree with the premise behind that. And it may be that Brooks comes to nothing more than a middling top 2 division professional. But I'll be mightily surprised if we create a better potential attacking player in the next 5-10 years and we may have missed out on something special

Sorry to be a pedant, but he was released by Man City.
