So why sign a new contract, presumably on higher wages, only last season if you dearly want to play elsewhere?

I think there are a few cases where "we couldn't stand in his way" could apply, but not sure a move to Bournemouth is one of them. Although Wilder does keep citing Bournemouth as a club we should be emulating. Surprised they pass the "proper football club" test.

The club tie him in so they can get a higher fee.
He's an international, PL football for whoever enhances his profile. And then there's the financial aspect for a young man his age.

But no, the club have forced him out of the door for a bag of shiny sixpences, with his boots in a red and white spotted handkerchief attached to a stick over his shoulder. Oh and a cheque for a few hundred grand with his agents name on it.

Plus this "happy just getting on with it"bollocks is annoying, especially coming from some who've been going five fucking minutes in the scheme of things yet know how to run a football club from top to bottom.

FUCKING BOURNEMOUTH

Fucking Bournemouth have spent 3 seasons in the top flight in 3 years.

Fucking Sheffield United have spent 3 seasons in the top flight in 26 years.

Fucking Bournemouth are about to embark on their 4th consecutive top flight season, something we haven't managed since 1994.

That would carry some credence if you wasn't comparing it with the succession of crooks and skinflints running the club in the 57 years I've been watching them

Seriously you question my allegiance, do you know me? I am sick of seeing the same shit, aren't you? Now get your Captain Blade PJ's on, get under your SUFC duvet and set your Greasy chip butty alarm clock. You might not care we have just sold our best youngster in years, a flair player that is going to get better and better and one can make a huge difference to our season, I do so fuck off with the condecending bigger Blade attitude.

And for the record I never said we would go down, so take off your Blades tinted bins and put your usual jam jar lenses on.

You’re a fucking tedious agenda merchant who can’t wait to derogate the club you claim to support. You’re a Non-Blade Wanker. I’ve seldom heard a young player so overrated as your drivel about Brooks who’s achieved next to nothing but you now hold out as a superstar. Utter crap, promulgated to suit your self-entitled campaign against our club. Don’t expect it to go unchallenged. You want to make vitriolic comments? Fine. Expect them back from people who are older and wiser don’t have the football St. Vitus Dance that you and others exhibit so readily when you get the chance to knock United.

What is this “same shit” that has annoyed you so much over the past two seasons? You’re an attention seeker dancing the Tyburn Jig. So I’m confronting your authenticity. Explain the “relegation struggle” that would satisfy you so much and I’ll revise the bet. But you’re going to put up or shut up.

This.
What really pisses me off is the message the club are sending out - “yes, we do have some outstanding young players, but you can bet half your fucking arse that we will sell them. Whatever fee we receive for Brooks, you can bet the other cheek that we won’t be investing a similar amount in new players”

The first 14 years I spent watching fucking Sheffield United, 11 of them were in the top flight. I don't even know if fucking Bournemouth existed then. My expectations are a little bit higher than yours.

Definitely not. No thank you. Can’t have it both ways. We’re either forcing him out or he doesn’t want to be here and if he doesn’t want to be here I don’t want him back with his main commitment being elsewhere.
Could say that about every loan player then, regardless of where they previously came from.

No comparison. No one on here could run a football club. No one oh here can finance a football club and I doubt very few understand basic contract law let alone dealing with agents and solicitors when you have a hot prospect who other clubs in a higher division are waving £50 notes at.

Yet that doesn't stop them from believing they know how it works. It's the real world, it's not FIFA 18, common sense and financial stability has to come into it. No one on here has to pay players wages, or rates. And let's not talk of sacrifices to watch United. It's a fucking lifestyle choice, whether anyone likes it or not.

The club probably used it to get a higher fee, and i think david would love to play against teams like city, which he has now, rather than going of ewood park on a tuesday neyt. The club wont go into melt down, yes hes a big loss but no player is bigger than the club

Your feisty for someone over a hundred years old snooty!

He could have instructed his existing agent to seek a move elsewhere. The tail doesn't wag the dog. Nothing to see in that one.

I’m afraid your 57 years has taught you less than mine, especially since the rise of that blood-sicking leach on the body of football, the agent. You need to revise your personalisation of who is the tail and who the dog in the agent/player relationship, especially when the player is no more than a naive kid.

I'm "only" 65 but I've aged another 35 today! The thing is I've been hanging on to the club for this long in the hope we'll actually fucking win something. The signs were there that we could be onto something with the current manager and a set of promising talent coming through, one of whom was exceptional. But we get another fucking deja vu instead. I'm really fucking sick of it. I'm serious about sacking them off.

So my opinion is diffrent to yours and I am a non Blade wanker? A fucking tedious agenda merchant? LOL You need help pal, if opinions from others make you spill your coco you should call it a day. Guess what, your opinion is yours only and not that of evryone else.

I can take your fould mouthed condecending vitriol on the chin, not bothered. I will even let allow you to say it to my face if you like. I have broad shoulders and you you may be older, but you certainly ain't wiser. Maybe we can go for a beer then and ask me the put up or shut up question one more time.

Bournemouth have seen their £10m bid for Brentford defender Chris Mepham rejected, according to Sky sources.

The Cherries returned with a fresh approach for the young centre-back after having a £5.5m bid rejected by Brentford during the January transfer window.

But that too has been turned down, with the improved offer still not understood to be close to the Bees' valuation of the player.

They can afford the gamble, like they did with Ake and Ibe. We can’t, hence why the deal is happening.

But if we have ambitions of promotion then selling Brooks is a bigger gamble than keeping him. Despite some brilliant team performances last season, we lacked game changing players and Brooks will be expensive and very difficult to replace. If Wilder doesn't have to sell than it makes more sense to keep hold of someone who cost us nothing and is on relatively modest wages, at least for another season.

You don’t ‘let’ me do anything I’m afraid. If you want my advice you need only ask for it, by whatever means are convenient, at my usual hourly rate. Quit the bravado and posturing of the ‘say it to my face if you dare’, though, eh? I’ve fished in big ponds.

What do you predict as the outcome of my club’s relegation struggle that you so eagerly anticipate? We’ll find a way to see if you match your malice with hard cash. Put up or shut up.

I really couldn't be arsed with you tonight. This sale is going to fuck United up for the next 10 years and your posturing is just wasting internet space.

20 year old , welsh international centre half, only 20 first team appearances.......£10m nowhere near Brentfords valuation...
interesting to see if Brentford end up selling if a higher offer comes in.....defenders usually not valued as high as forward players.

I reading on twitter a utd fan who i follow. As this broke while at work & apparently david brooks has changed agents recently. He said he's been dreading this ever since then & although Bournemouth are a great destination for him. because im a big fan of eddie howe & will get a chance other than being at a top 6. Where he would be wasted. 12m is bit low but im assuming like others we have 25% sell on clause

I wouldve advising him to get a 2nd year & promise to leave at the end of that season if we arent promoted. Because it wasnt til September he made his league debut. But if true & has changed agents we all know what their main intention is for brooks. Of course they want his best intention but they also seen pound signs & premier league is the richest league in the world which means huge profit

Keen to see what follows. Can’t see Wilder going through the whole poker game at the end of the season over an increased budget only to have an asset sold from under him.. I’m sure there is an agreement in place for him to get a cut too..

Writing was on the wall when he switched agents recently I mean if you plan on sitting tight and cracking on then why do you need a new agent..

Wish him all the best and hope he never forgets what we did for him. Having said that predict he will be in the Champions ship season after. I think they’re good for relegation his season..
Well said ! its always disappointing to lose a quality young player but as Wilder says !
Players will only go if silly money is offered.
I for one am a Brooke's fan but a .bigger blades fan and the club comes first ,he obviously changed his agent with a motive in mind, and that is obviouse. He's gone for the money and premiership football.
L this talk of selling cheap is a load of Bollox.
Wilder has already laid his cards on-the table,he said he would walk if the owners
sold players against his wishes ( he's trying to build a team) so if this is the case we wwill be looking for a new manager.
He will get the lions share of the money to invest in the team, that is good business in my book.
You moaners want go grow up and join the real world, yes it's another young player gone but let's see where the money invested by Wilder takes us.
You can have your day if it does pear-shaped.

Is it? You have absolutely no way of knowing that. Of course nobody wants to see good players (youth or origin is a parochial red herring) leave but that’s football. Money talks. Stop kidding yourself it’s exclusive to SUFC so that you can wallow in self-pity, however popular that state of mind may be in S2. Let’s see what happens going forward a few months before pronouncing a Cassandra-like ten years of doom, eh? What a ludicrous statement that is. Many, many clubs have sold far better players than Brooks and prospered thereafter. The ‘woe is me’ is melodramatic nonsense.

You are having a self-indulgent, infantile tantrum in public. I’m responding to it. Do it in private and it’s your own business. Someone talks bollocks about my club? I respond. What on Earth makes some of you think you have immunity from challenge?

You haven’t the faintest idea how to run a football club and wouldn’t last ten minutes if given the opportunity.

Keep jerkin’ dem knees.

This is an embarrassing place sometimes.
