We don't need to sell, so why sell?

Perhaps we do need to sell.

Wilder has thanked the board for increasing the budget but it's no secret that we haven't got a pot to piss in, particularly whilst the struggles at the very top are ongoing. As soon as Villa got into the shit we were on here saying 'Who could we nick?' and the like, because clubs exploit the situations of other clubs. Other clubs aren't stupid and they'll have done their homework on us, and while ever our situation is unstable we're even more liable to lose our stars than we usually are.

If Wilder believes he can do a lot with the money he will hopefully be given to spend after the sale, it might have to be done. If a multi-million pound boost to the transfer kitty means we can shop at Asda instead of Farmfoods, it might just be worth it.

I don't want Brooks to go and I believe he's worth a bit more than the £12million mentioned elsewhere, but it might be a good piece of business if we reinvest correctly. I very much think this new agent of his will have been whispering sweet nothings into the lad's ear n'all, unless Wilder's 'Nobody wants to go' comment was a barefaced lie to the supporters. He's not known for his fibs though, is he?

Let's chuck Fleck at them and tell them to make it £15m. Why fucking not.
Question for you (and any others):

If you’d been told you could have £2m for transfers, however if you sold Brooks you could have £14m, what would you do?

I reckon CW is backing himself big time with this move.

The fact that many think 12 million is a good deal sums up the small time attitude of this club and its fanbase to be honest.

3 million for Walker was also a good deal to these people.
What amount would constitute a good deal in your eyes? 12-15m for a potential, relatively unproven championship prospect sounds about right. As someone has mentioned earlier, Maddison went to Leicester for around 20-23m hes played more in the championship and has proven he can do it, double figures in goals and assists last year. So to get about 8m less is surely about right? I think people get more worked up because he's from the academy.

Read what I've said, which points out that no one seems to be offering the experts valuations on here. That tells me that all these cash rich sides in the PL don't, at the moment anyway, see him as being worth more than whatever the current offer is. Hopefully we'll get more but let's wait and see. If he goes at all.
In some posts yes, which is fair enough. The post I quoted comes across as characterising any naysayer as irrational, which I don't think is the case. Perfectly possible to disagree with this potential transfer for sensible reasons.

Brooks is only worth what someone is willing to pay for him. Which looks to be 12 mill at the minute. Maybe Spurs will try and high jack the deal at the last moment with a bigger bid. Who knows. If one player is bigger to you than Sheffield utd then find another team

I think until its confirmed we ought to calm down a bit, we will all be disappointed if it happens but until it does lets not string the owners up, just yet.

I hope his Bournemouth career is better than the last youngster we sold to them. A league 2 relegation now on that “future England keepers” cv.

just for a sense of balance

Walker was sold after a handful of games. We were in the financial shit and in the end we got around £9million for him ( with the sell on fee).We got about £5mill ( I think) for Kyle Naughton The transfer market then wasn't as inflated as it is now.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Brooks to be sold but is he really worth £12 million based on the majority of performances last season or are we looking at this through via red and white glasses? Any club buying him would only be buying potential and not a player who is proven at any level. On that basis what would happen if we were offered £15 million, plus appearance add ons plus international and a sell on fee which would take it overall to around £20 million ? Would that be enough.

If by selling him we kept hold of Fleck , JOC etc would it be worth it ? Players like Maddison and Grealish and better players than him ( at the moment) and any club buying them know what they will be getting.

What I am confident of is that CW wouldn't sell unless he is happy with the deal and the funds he would receive from it. If he isn't I would expect him to resign immediately

I'd doubt James Shields would be tweeting about it if there wasn't anything in it.
James Shields of the Sheffield Star, who everyone on here bar Danny, slag off roundly?

I’m not saying for one minute it isn’t true but I’d rather wait for something official before putting credence in anything written in these fine publications

If and when Wilder sells Brooks or any one else , its wholly his choice now as its under the terms he agreed to stay

All this mcabes at it again bollocks is just that ,,, bollocks

Wilder believes we are better served cashing in on Brooks to finance maybe 3 players to get us up , so be it
Hes done alright by us so far , hes the man with the say so on who goes and comes

McCabe and prince having handed him carte blanch the teams finances

get that in your thick skulls , if we fail its because wilders got it wrong

But O’Connell was integral to last few seasons. Brooks has been bit part.

I’d rather gamble selling Brooks than gamble with money we don’t have.
Then why announce an "improved" transfer budget. We've been done. Brooks IS the budget.

Yes my teddy is well and truly out of the pram so bare with me....

But 12million... 30million... whatever, is only a "fantastic ammount" if Wilder is given 100% of it! Is anyone, ANYONE really expecting that to be the case?

You really are DIM,do you practice being an antogonising twat every day.

What?

I asked a serious question. I assumed you were making some sort of point, so I asked what it was Wilder was saying that is pertinent to this point. If you can’t even answer that question then I’m not sure why you even brought it up.

For what it’s worth I never started out to antagonise you. I asked a simple question, to which you replied with a personal insult. Feel free to continue believing that you’re being hard done to though

"Maguire shows how far we have sunk.
Maguire the star. More like a teletubby on a bad day half the time.
And the lack of criticism for, for instance, his generally abysmal distribution, shows how he may be the best of an awful bunch, but the entire team is utter shite."

"Right now we have Maguire and Long - both prospects - but I suspect we'd raise little over £500,000 for the pair."

Examples of opinion on here.

And letting all the other Championship clubs know he's loaded, thats not how i interpreted his last interview from the 20th June.

Not the same thing as to whether he's worth daft amounts even though it's highly relevant.

Firstly I'm confident Wilder's been given considerably more than £2m - that would be a joke budget.

Whatever I'd do, if I was to sell Brooks I'd make sure we get maximum value for him, and ideally get him back on loan.

By selling him at this stage, to fucking Bournemouth, there's no way we're getting maximum value, and they wouldn't loan him back.
