Just watched the press conference and I have to ask what does Dave Green add to SUFC? I assume he is a Blade (why else would we have him there?!?) but just look at the set up of that conference.

1) Its clear McCabe doesn't trust Green to conduct these things otherwise he wouldn't have come over from Belgium in the first place.

2) The way the conference was laid out, if McCabe wanted to give an inference of authority to Green (as supposed controller of the club) he would have sat him in the middle and let him open.

3) When Green did open his mouth he spoke like someone who had no idea of his own mind. He constantly looked over at McCabe and Morgan and said as little as possible.

If this really is the best we can do as the leader of the club (not financially of course) then we really are in as big a pit of shit as I can remember. Its an additional salary we don't need. He won't be doing this for ten bob I can guarantee you and he appears to add absolutely nothing apart from the obvious McCabes puppet factor.

I am assuming its a Mike McDonald, Charles Green type relationship. McCabe loads the gun and Green pulls the trigger. All this shit about McCabe not making the footballing decisions is exactly that.

Am I getting this wrong? Does anyone have another take on it? It just seems we piss money up the wall on salaries behind the scenes and make all the real cutbacks elsewhere within the club.

Oh and fair play to Paul Walker for actually finally growing a pair and getting under McCabes skin. He didn't like that much did he?

Don't know what he does but whenever I've seen McCabe he rarely let's anyone else speak whether it be Simon, Scott, Jacob.......

Green's been a director for 8 years and must be the only one left that can chair regular board meetings and be a link between the operational people at the Lane and McCabe. I would imagine the other important director is Craig Burns, the Finance director. It is a good question on whether he has any influence on footballing matters at all.

I can't believe he will be doing it for any significant money, he has his own business.

I assume he maybe gets tapped by McCabe for a loan now and again but I don't think he has any significant money he can invest.

Does whatever Chris Steer used to do which was .............................

What does he do? He makes piles apparently..

If they had a question on Pointless that was "Past and Present Chairmen of Sheffield United Football Club", Dave Green would be a "pointless" answer.

I should add that I've nothing against the bloke just hardly heard of him. Maybe he'll seize the opportunity to make his mark tonight?

Now this lad could have a scrap! Not very cultured, a real face first fighter but a great scrapper and a true gent. The Stracey fight was fabulous and he was seldom in a boring fight. Met him at a Bomber Graham fight in Sheffield and had a chat. Top bloke Dave Boy Green, my kind of fighter.

He was in the crowd for one of Bomber's fights at the city hall and the crowd gave him unmerciful stick but he took it all in great spirit (possibly the one you met him at PAD?)
Loved the way he posed at the end of his fights when he'd just blown someone away.....then came Carlos Palomino...:)

I was jostling to get to the bar, tried to squeeze past this barrel chested bloke with an evening suit on and who should it be but The Fen Tiger. Thought he was going to chin me :D Just said "Dave Green.....I thought it was you. how's it going mate"? He bought me a pint and we had a chat. Really nice bloke, and he's in my top ten fighters of all time. Never a dull fight, and he had a go at the likes of Palomino, Sugar Ray Leonared etc.and at least he could say he gave his all against them. Man amongst men, not many like him any more.
