"Having made all their changes, there was concern for Rovers as the match ticked towards the final whistle, with Darragh Lenihan struggling, he was sent to play upfront."

It seems unlikely that he would be sent to play up front with a broken foot. All subs used or not.

Eurgh the comments on that article are basically the same as the cretins that comment on The Star for ours and pigs, good to see every team has 'em!

Wow, mate, no they don't, that is a massive generalisation, similar to "everyone has a Facebook page"

I don't have Linkedin, but then again my standing is slightly below that of the fucking huge Crow that thinks he bosses our car park.

Dack ain't travelling cause he went off injured then was spotted in a nightclub in Essex that same night. Probably didn't go down to well after a poor performance.

He looks a little bit like Jose Baxter, don't you think?

I once played amateur league football with a very well qualified A & E Doctor shortly before he moved up in his career towards Consultant. He played on in one of our games for 20 minutes to the finish with a broken ankle. It was only when his sister (who was a nurse) told him he was a fool two days after the injury that he had it checked out. He didn't spot it. If you can hobble you can play. You can always run it off! :D

I went to the playoff final in 2003 with a broken foot after an unfortunate discussion with a door man on the Saturday evening. Didn't go to the hospital until the Tuesday, ended up with pins in it for 5 months. Wouldn't recommend it although a nice steward at Cardiff escorted me to my seat using the private lifts.

Lenihan

I nicked the quotes from another poster (longshortandtall) here's is full post from BM:

Blackburn fans comments yesterday about Lenighan's performance;

" He's a defensive midfielder not a CH. He's not good in the air. He's poor can we take Sheffield United's money now.

Looks like he's broken his foot so he won't be going until the January transfer window".

Mood on Blackburn fans forum as dark as the Pigs welcome to League 1 fancy losing to tinpot Southend.

Seems we may have to move on from him because of the injury. Had my doubts about how much he was going to cost anyway in view his short career to date. We need cover at CH so will be interesting who we go for.

Mr Leonard on the other hand scored 1 of the goals for Southend back to his committed best. We need to get him in before the transfer window closes.

Ok thanks mate for the info.

''Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has confirmed a bid "remains on the table" for Blackburn midfielder Darragh Lenihan.

Rovers have twice rejected offers from the Blades for the 23-year-old this summer.''

By the beard of Zeus! Pray tell, where have you acquired this information, you rapscallion?

Wilder has a dig at other clubs being too "precious" and moaning about other clubs making "derisory" bids for their players:-

Chrissy W. has a point - there's no need to be petty and precious about it.

"We at [Selling Club Name] have received a bid for [Player Name] {optional "from [Buying Club Name]"} which has not met our valuation of the player." - That's all they need to say and move on.

"There is a bid left in with them but there's other players on our radar," he told Sky Sports News.

"We notified them and it was their right to either accept or decline the bid, and I don't get precious about other people coming in for our players.

"We come through the front door and we do it the right way, and it's the same about our players. We won't talk about derisory bids or whatever."

Wouldn't expect any less from Chris Wilder.

Seems we want to continue down the line with this. CW must highly rate him. Although watching the interview on Sky he mentions other targets so I'm thinking (guessing) that it's a last bid.

Hopefully CW gets his targets whoever they may be. If there's a manager that deserves a bit of chance it's CW. It's a shame financially we aren't able to throw more money towards him to spend but I'm sure CW and AK will get the best out of what they have!

If that's the case - move on.

Absolutely no way we have £5m to spend and he's absolutely not worth £5m - not sure anyone is even talking of him as a future premier league player for example.

I'm not even convinced he's a better player than Basham or O'Connell to be honest. If we are spending big we need a definate upgrade

I've not seen enough of him to comment on how good he is or not is. But for CW to want to spend a lot of money he must really rate him highly.

I think I'd have to agree with you there.... if we are putting a £5m deal together, be it add ons etc, it needs to be a bit of a coup. I think £1.25-£1.5m seems fair for the lad, Venkys are just arseholes by all accounts.

I think Nixon's wrong on this. We wouldn't have spent this long on the deal if they wouldn't budge from £5m. And if that was the case then a 500k opening offer would be pushing it, even for us.

But even if it's closer to £2m, it's still a big fee for us and a surprising position to spend it on given what we've already got. I don't even see where he'd go into the team.

Wilder will see him as a solid investment for beyond this season, a good character, a possible leader and a key member of the squad going forward whose versatility will be valuable. A bit like a younger Basham. Long term, great but I'm not sure now's the time to be spending on a player like this.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out if we do sign him.
