Put in this way Pinchy, put your mouth to the test.... let's actually see what an oracle of life you really are? Anyone of any standing in this world has a linked-in profile.

Care to trade?!

Wow, mate, no they don't, that is a massive generalisation, similar to "everyone has a Facebook page"

utter bullshit, nothing like real life, no way samir would reject a contract

It bloody well did happen! It also made for an awkward time when I bumped into him near the ticket office not too long after that.

Don't get me wrong, he seemed like a nice bloke in real life but I just couldn't get over the fact that he did that to me and announced he wanted to move to a bigger club just 2 days before the champions league semi against AC Milan.

Utter bastard.

In the meantime with 3 days to go to the start of the season 2 players who Wilder has been chasing for a while and would be part of the match day squad remain at their third tier clubs

But you're paying for uniqueness, we're being quoted for a league one defender.

Put it this way, do you think they pluck the number out of the sky, or do they look what other players are going for and base their valuation on that?

How many times do you hear 'x player went for ..., he's worth at least 5m more'. That's putting a valuation based on the market of 'players'.

That last paragraph is always said by those fans steeped in the lore of Junior Computer Manager, never by anyone in the game who has to negotiate real deals. All players are unique. There is no going rate for "league one defenders". You really are digging a hole on that one. You've dug too far to return, I fear, but at least dig no further, eh?

That's at least twice now you've said something daft and been caught wriggling furiously. Retire gracefully and with a little dignity.

As to your ludicrous LinkedIn suggestion, that smacks of desperation. Some of us exist at a slightly higher level than that. You really ought to cease and desist with that unattractive "status" line of comparison - I find it a little unbecoming and you would, in any event, be even more put in your place, by any such comparison, than you have been already. It's not a winner for you. I'd leave it.

United, along with the overwhelming majority of clubs, may have to use the whole of the transfer window. Its very common. It's no big deal, save for those whose curious raison d'être in life, is to attack, at every opportunity, the club they claim to support.

Sometimes, I wonder...

Alan? Is that you Alan?

Is it tho? Or would that be in specific reference to another player whose value was decided on what another club wanted to pay?

Basing value on what other clubs would pay is a really really bad business model for a team that can't compete financially with more wealthy teams.... and that why I'm glad we don't.

We've also got to think of Jim White.

Pinchy, Pinchy, Pinchy,

As I have said before, your 'online persona' smacks of someone who has little in life offline therefore tries to make up for it online. Ask any phsychologist. It's that desperation to be something that unfortunately you never will be.

As for the usual Junior football manager response. There are many occasions where such lines have been spouted by real life football managers. You know, those ones considerably more qualified to talk than yourself?

Take your reference to Pinchy's pink car...

Before you put it up for sale at a price - how many actually look at Parkers Guide, or Glasses guide for a 'Market Valuation' of that car and then price accordingly?

Similar to last year when chasing Daniel Lafferty and then we got him for a fraction of the price near the end of the month. The only difference was the selling club wasn't leaking bids to the press so that the cry-babies on here couldn't blubber on about it.

It's gone mad with what clubs are prepared to pay, £200m for a player and the 'special one' on TV now saying £100m is going to become the norm.
Someone had better start a new war and start selling more arms to Arabs cus bog roll profits and student flat rentals aren't going to work in this new market.

Wonder if things would change if we got to the 'promised land' of the Premier League. Guaranteed 100m + parachute payments wherever you finish.

Football's quickly becoming obscene.

This Neymar deal sounds dodgy as. There's absolutely no way PSG can throw 200m and 550k p/w tax free at a player without breaching FFP. They haven't even sold anyone significant to offset the purchase as far I'm aware.

There's rumours of Neymar himself buying the contract out via funds acquired by the Qatar investment group to 'represent Qatar's World Cup'. Only speculation but in this world, I wouldn't see it too far fetched.

It's already gone beyond obscene.

I think the Nemar deal goes beyond sport and corrupt money it's the first move that is political. Qatar are showing the other Arab nations that their embargo isn't hurting them by using his transfer to stick two fingers up.

This is the death of football as the common man's game.

The death of football for the common man came during the inaugural season of the Premiership.

If this Lenihan is going to happen I doubt it will conclude until much closer to the deadline. Blackburn obviously don't want to let him go and would prefer to offload others before him so quite rightly are refusing Utd's offers at present.

For those alive at the time does anyone remember how quickly values excalated after the £1m Trevor Francis transfer?

Apparently their also sending di Maria to Barca as part of the deal it does sound dodgy cos personally as good s he is still don't think he is worth 200 million

If I wanteded Pinchys pink convertible fiat 500 but nobody else wanted it. I wouldn't need to pay as much as I might if lots of people wanted that car.

Or it was winter.

Or it was a different colour.

The market is Cars. The rate is for the individual product. (With lots of vairiables that make it unique, and therefore only worth what people desiring those attributes want, need and are willing to pay - its rate within the market).

There is no market rate for 'cars'. It's too wide reaching.
There is a market rate for a soiled pink convertible fiat 500 hundred.

I've only put this down as I was getting lost myself :) so don't worry I feel like I've waisted my life as much as you will have reading this.

Pinchy reckons its about £250k I believe.

I believe him too as it's his car, it therefore follows that he must know what it's worth.

I've tried to explain to you at some length. You have neither listened nor learned. Your understanding of football, gleaned from a children's game, is matched only by your woeful learning in theoretical economics and failure to grasp real world common sense. The latter is unavailable online I'm afraid.

As me gran always said:
Trouble with "common sense " is that it's NOT that common

KIN ELL
2k for Utley ? - 2k !!!!!
Extortionate !
WAY Above market value

Its difficult to compare though now! not as if that whole figure is coming out of PSGs pocket.

Story about Beckhams transfer to Real Madrid. Adidas contributed as did Siemens and the shirt sales in Asia meant that the transfer fee was recouped the day he signed. Ive said it before the game is fractured and signings like this are more marketing exercises than anything else which is sad don't get me wrong but they're all but fully funded now. Its the trickle down effect which is dangerous. when bang average muck players are earning £50k pw and fetching £20m plus for no reason

Blackburn want him to go along with several others they cannot afford. Their problem, is that they are financially in a right mess, and need to sell for as much as possible.
The chicken family are trying to apply their experience in the normal business world to football....which doesn't work as it is completely on its own.
The player may be good....and yes on a football game his "scores" for his attributes may make him worth £5m. But when taking into account other factors....he's in reality worth nothing like that amount.
A players value is determined by the market. If there is only one buyer and you have to sell then you are fucked.

In this case, there appears to be a lack of interested buyers for him.....similar to the Leonard fellow. So it means that in the end....if you want to sell you have to cave in.
And I see that happening with Leonard, and probably this lad too.
